The Berlin Marathon Sirens 🚨

3rd Marathon ✅
3rd World Major ✅
3rd Sub-4 Hour Club ✅
8 min PB 🏅 (negative split!)

Despite a PB and being grateful beyond words to be healthy enough to run my 3rd World Major at Berlin but Berlin marathon was something else!!!

Everyone kept hyping me that Berlin’s known as the fastest track with the best weather. Expectations were sky high. But from the gun, it was packed, the sun was relentless, and ambulances wailed nonstop. Runners slowed, cramped, walked… and I had a choice:
👉 Play it safe and settle with the crowds pace
👉 Or GO

Training All summer in a hot climate and the Dubai heat prepared me for this moment. Dressed head-to-toe in black (mistake? ✖️😎) made things hotter . my mind was like we did not come here to play safe , its lights or checkers flag HARDER, FASTER, SMARTER, STRONGER.

This by far was my most difficult Marathon — but I wouldn’t have it any other way tbh

Thanks to my coach for getting me in the best shape for this race @twozeronine58 thanks to my wife for all the support and all those people supporting me pre and post the race you know who you are and thanks to all the amazing volunteers , fire trucks spraying water and those music groups on the course playing from rock to house music they kept me going. finally thanks to @activeholidayco for making me live my dreams and get to tell the story ..

Very happy with the 3:46 chip time and the 600 meters extra that I had to do to run around people however if anything this made me hungrier.Work is never over - on to the next one 🏃

*Strava marathon time 3:43 ⏰

SWEAT, BLOOD & GRIT .

Blessed and grateful beyond words - to be able to realise this dream and run it with my fav running buddy @ozzietravler . Double dream achieved .

Last week I completed the Boston marathon.
My 2nd marathon
My 2nd world Major
Sub 4 hours club

The course was beautiful , hilly and challenging. From KM 3 it was a mental game the challenge was real but knowing I was running Boston. I did not want to have it any other way.

Every step in the last quarter of this race made me feel more alive , disconnected the pain , locked in , put my head down , picked up the pace and was very happy to -ve split this beast of a course .. my mind brokered a deal with my body listen I know you are tired and in pain but let’s deal with that after the race , now we run and we push.

To my surprise I am smiling at most of the pics - for the life of me I can not recall smiling at all or when did I smile however my why was crystal clear and apparently I was smiling throughout.

What people donot know is that I doubted my self 100 times during this training block i got covid , H pylori on antibiotics , runners knee , pinched nerve , running fasted in the heat of Dubai . Nothing but Doubt mixed with believe however the support system around me was the best and I am forever grateful .

Thanks to my coach for focused training block and pushing me using data and science @twozeronine58
Amazing support from my wife , kids , family and friends - my Why
Immaculate organization and readiness as always by active holiday @activeholidayco
Thanks to my magician of a physio @kellyblanephysio for always finding ways to make me stronger and fix me
An honorable mention to Runna for an amazing three days of recovery , fueling and fun . @runna

“It’s not the strength of the body that counts it’s the mind” - On to the next one 🔥

I used to think I’d never visit Australia. In my head, it was just a 14 hours far-flung continent of snakes, spiders, kangaroos, and heavy accents—definitely not on my bucket list.

Boy, was I wrong.

Thanks to @wmmajors , @gauri.jayaram and @activeholidayco for pushing the envelope and making us discover the absolute beauty of destinations we never thought would visit specially Australia through marathons.

Sydney completely blew my mind. It is sleek, impeccably clean, fresh, young, modern, and perfectly blended with heritage. Utterly alluring.

Now, I’m telling literally everyone: you need to visit Sydney. It is outstanding and I would love to run Sydney again and visit this beautiful city ..

Everyone wants to know how far I ran, but no one asks how much fun I had. 🏃‍♂️✨

Thank you, Sydney. 🇦🇺❤️

And thanks to these people for making it ultra special

Over a week ago I ran the Sydney Marathon ! 🇦🇺
What a beauty of a course and a city 👌🏼

6️⃣th Marathon ✅
6️⃣th Sub-4 Hour Club ✅
1️⃣st Positive Split ❌😬
6️⃣th Major Marathon ✅
“The road goes on forever, but the feeling stays with you.”
That’s how it felt.

I went into this race knowing it was a tricky course, but I told my coach @broad_run_ I wanted to gamble. Start hot, feel alive, and take a risk.

I went out wildly hot. Felt super strong 27k and even set a new half-marathon PB! @rushilk8 is laughing now .

Then came Centennial Park. As gorgeous as it is, it slowly consumes you . Separate post about that lovely park 😀.

My legs turned completely to stone—I had officially spent all my physical credit. Seeing runners from the red wave struggle and 3 lines of runners made things even more interesting 🤔😀

All that was left at this stage was pure willpower, remembering my kids, and holding onto the example I want to set for them of not giving up even when things get hard pulled me through ..

That’s why we run marathons to be challenged and overcome.

2/3 smiling, 1/3 suffering, but I loved every minute of the gamble (even if I’m never doing it again 😂). My name is Kid Rock 🤘🏻! The pun is intended.

Finished at 3:46:01. 📊
This race tested every ounce of my resolve . Like life lately fun and challenging but utterly grateful for it all.

. A huge thank you to my coach for an amazing training block @broad_run_ @trainwithbrp
. Thank you to , @scienceinsport.me for the fuel.
. Thank you to @activeholidayco & @gauri.jayaram for the flawless execution and that amazing boat dinner 👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you to my family for their endless support
. All the amazing people who ran with me during this block thank you .
and @dylangoa @rushilk8 @zoya_razak @chan.elferns for being the absolute best travel and running buddies and crew.

Beside London, Sydney is the only marathon I’d rerun in a heartbeat. On to the next chapter! 🏃‍♂️💨

5 Major Marathons. 🏅
5 fantastic locations. 🌍
5 outstanding experiences. ✨
5 sets of unforgettable memories. ❤️
Amazing opportunities meeting like minded people .

@activeholidayco @gauri.jayaram thank you !! there’s something special about knowing you can be completely stress-free before, during and after your marathon.

Marathons are stressful enough in theory ,weeks and months of training, juggling personal and professional life, wondering if you’ll hit your target, whether your gut will hold , whether you’ll sleep well, eat well, recover well… the list goes on.

I’ve done all my marathons with @activeholidayco because I know the experience will be outstanding — from preparation, to execution, to everything after the finish line.

The locations are always mind-blowing. Being able to walk to and from the race is a game changer. I never even bother with a bag drop — one less major thing to worry about. 😎

And then there’s the best part: the people.
Having fun, meeting like-minded runners, making new friends and creating memories that last long after the marathon is over.

5 majors down… and I’m already looking forward to the next ones 😉

Can you guess where I’m going next? 👀🌍🏃‍♂️

In a world
That is infested with influencers , YouTubers , founders and internet celebrities
Comes real people like @pursuitofperformance__ who talk the talk and also walk the walk .
I have seen founders , influencers …etc utterly strong behind their keyboards and cameras at home but in real life they can not link two sentences together infront a crowd and my Dyson vacuum has more character than them 😀
I even seen some so called running influencers running around with security and a camera crew 😂😂😂 thinking 200k followers or whatever is the epitome of life and everything that’s in it ..

Was a pleasure meeting Rob in person several times during the Capetown marathon and getting to see that yes you can have a following but you are full of heart , soul and confident energy in real life

Yes I did miss his bus but did not get to miss knowing him as an athlete and a fantastic authentic New Yorker and a human being .

Must say I think it’s a Newyork thing . Everyone I meet from Newyork is SOLID

The Cape Town Marathon has, by far, been the best-organised marathon I’ve experienced across all majors that I have ran. 5 in total .

I forgot to mention , now it’s officially a Marathon Major ⭐️. Congratulations! Everyone who ran this year got their star — myself included. 😀

@wmmajors , the Cape Town Marathon team set an outstanding benchmark:

1. Digital-first multichannel communication: WhatsApp, email, app 👌🏼
2. Super responsive — even provided a personalised invitation letter when I needed it the most before the race
3. Seamless expo experience (and a talented young volunteer photographer at the sign 😀 IYKYK).
4. Best pre-race bathroom setup I’ve ever seen: ushers, cleaners, toilet rolls, running water, spotless facilities 😮.
5.Clear as day starting points
6. Fast post-race results and communication.
7. Transparent about issues — even the bag collection concern was minor compared to other races.

They even threw a party. 🎉 @capetownmarathon outstanding work

What a moment to be a proud African as we celebrate the continent’s first Marathon Major. 🌍❤️

Well done, Cape Town Marathon team. I’ll be back.

A week ago I ran the Capetown Marathon
An African running, Africa’s first world
Major - what a moment of pride !!! 🌍🇿🇦

“Went down the hill the other day - soul got happy and stayed all day .. “ that’s exactly what happened ..

5️⃣th Marathon ✅
5️⃣th Sub-4 Hour Club ✅
5️⃣th -ve split ✅
⭐️🙌🏻 potentially world major marathon - provisional star.

This by far was the hardest marathon I have ever done .
No rhythm, literarily not a straight mile just constant elevation changes that mirrored the ups and downs of life lately. For a creature of progress like me
, this course was Hard!!!

The strategy was simple: start conservative, release the steam, and attack from 32k. But that did not go exactly to plan. A toilet emergency at 6k cost me 4 minutes and forced an immediate mental reset.
By 32k, I was ready to hunt—until the “loop of death” hit. Six kilometers of blistering sun, sudden elevation, dehydration, and a hidden in a curve finish line 😀. Usually, the last 6k is where I lock in mentally, but this time, the mind checked , out and autopilot took over. I just lost all focus ..

📊 result
Finished at 3:41.

My second-fastest marathon to date however. I’m gutted to miss a PB by just a few minutes due to a distracted headspace , a highly technical course and a toilet stop . I am incredibly blessed to handle such a beautifully challenging course like this.

While this is my 2nd best marathon time however I feel it’s my worst not because of physical abilities there was still power in the legs and lungs it was because i lost focus . It just slipped .
My mind needs to be alot sharper next time ..
definitely a learning ..

shoutout to my coach—the training block was flawless, and it’s the exact reason this result held together when the course got brutal. Could have been a lot worse .

Immeculate execution by @activeholidayco like always , and world-class, digital-forward organization from the Cape Town team.

Thanks to all
Family and friends near and far who supported me preparing for this marathon .

Cape Town—your people, your nation, and your views are beautiful. Until next time. ⭐️

Next stop :progress ⚡️

Few years ago, I couldn’t comprehend how people ran 25K a week.

This April, I ran 306K.
The most I’ve ever done in a month.
30 hours. 29 runs.
Mostly alone. Thanks to @alexrea_r5 for joining some.

No skipped sessions..hard, slow, tired, didn’t matter.
Just machine-like commitment.

A friend told me,
“That’s basically a part-time job.”

That hit me hard
Maybe it is.

But it’s the kind of job that changes you.
For better or worse… that part is relative .

You start enjoying your own company.
Silence stops feeling empty.

You skip the big groups.
The photos.
You just want the run.

You wake up at 4:30 AM .. no negotiation.
No drama. Just discipline… and the sunrise.

You get addicted to impact.
To progress.
To things that actually move the needle not only in running but life.

No music.
Just your breath, your footsteps, your thoughts.

And with every step.. easy or hard
things become clearer.
Way clearer..

You are full of energy. You get on with your, family , kids , work not sure how but you get used to the grind

Somewhere along the miles, you realize:
saying no is the hardest part.

No to yourself.
No to distractions.
No to negative thoughts.
No to the extra hour in bed.
No to late nights, empty calories, and easy comfort.

The most intresting part of all of this is the fact that I donot see my self as a runner yet. Do I want more yes . is it attainable not sure but the wind will carry us ..
