On 16 September, ABAAD held the National Forum "Towards Fostering a Safe Environment Free from Sexual Harassment Towards Children" in Beirut, with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lebanon. The forum brought together the Ministry of Public Health and the National Mental Health Program, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Labour, alongside representatives of judicial, security, professional, academic, health, and social bodies, and researchers, experts, and specialists in child protection. Together they examined the state of child protection in Lebanon, with a focus on child sexual abuse and the risks children face in both the physical and digital worlds. During the forum, ABAAD presented the findings of a national study it conducted, and launched a digital game designed for children, the first of its kind in the Middle East. Children took part in the game directly, alongside a set of practical tools and a training toolkit to support frontline child protection workers. The forum also marked the launch of the #STAYINCONTROL campaign, produced by No2ta – The Feminist Lab in partnership with ABAAD. The campaign places children's digital safety at the centre of the conversation through the "Leila Is Smarter Than the Wolf" story series, which helps children recognise and understand online risks and know when and how to ask for help. In her opening remarks, Ghida Anani, Founder and Director of ABAAD, said: "Our children are within our sight, but they are not with us. They are before our eyes, yet they live in another world. Today, we are setting the compass back in the right direction, because no nation is well while its children are denied safety, protection, and care." #abaad #childprotection #nationalforum ‪@nlinlebanon‬⁩ by @abaadmena

by @abaadmena
