hey friends! i’d love to invite you all to the debut of my art show “Don’t Forget About Us” this coming Saturday, 17th of October, at Abacus Row.

displayed will be the illustrations i made during my seven weeks inside Cal City Detention. i will present the show and hold Q&A about my experience between 1 and 4pm on Saturday.

donations will be accepted for the detainees at Cal City to help them with phone bills, commissary, lawyers’ consultations and other immigration fees.

this show is a part of a rotating exhibit that will be taking place around Bay Area throughout the next few months. the urgency is obvious if you’re keeping up with the current state of this country and California in particular. any amount of funds donated is vital and greatly appreciated!

and lastly, since my birthday was on 17th of September, debuting the show exactly a month from it seems extra special. if you ever wanted to get me a gift - please make a contribution towards the fundraiser for my girls.

🥮 We’re excited to offer Ăn Xôi mooncakes at Abacus Row again this Mid-Autumn Festival. @anxoi.nyc mooncakes are handmade from scratch with the best ingredients brought from Việt Nam. Once again, this year’s quartet box sounds delightful—Chicken XO, Young Sticky Rice Coconut, Pineapple Mint, Red Beads Jujube. 🏮☁️🐇🌕

Ăn Xôi is a Vietnamese food popup by Thảo Bùi in New York City. Its goal is to honor the crafts of Vietnamese cooking and preserve our rich cultures. Their bánh trung thu or mooncakes are heavily influenced by Vietnamese cuisine and flavors.

Ăn Xôi’s Moonlight Quartet:
* Chicken XO: A savory twist on the classic thập cẩm, filled with roasted chicken, dried fish, X.O. sauce, and a house-made salted egg yolk. (contains shellfish)
* Young Sticky Rice Coconut (snow skin): Young sticky rice, or cốm in Vietnamese, is a special treat from Northern Vietnam. Its distinctive fragrance and texture, along with pandan and young coconut, make a perfect mooncake filling.
* Pineapple Mint: A refreshing and summery flavor! Mung bean filling is infused with mint tea, plus homemade pineapple jam in the middle.
* Red Beans Jujube: A slightly different take on a traditional filling. Buttery red beans with the naturally sweet and delicate flavor of jujube.

We’ll be taking pre-orders up until Saturday, September 19, 12PM PT. Purchase using the link in bio. Pickups will be available on Friday, 9/25; Sat, 9/26; and Sun, 9/27.
