We're just one week into our It Takes All of Us campaign, and 10 wonderful humans have already stepped up! 🎉

We're doing a little happy dance over here. Every gift is a reminder that our community believes in the power of the arts, and we are SO grateful.

Our goal? 30 donors by Giving Tuesday. We're a third of the way there!

Who's ready to make it 11? 💛

IT TAKES ALL OF US. 🎨❤️

Artists creating.
Organizations producing and presenting.
Businesses investing.
Audiences participating.
Advocates speaking up.
People sharing their time, ideas, connections, and support.

And today, we’re inviting 30 more people to join in.

If 30 people make a gift to ABAE by Giving Tuesday, a generous donor will contribute an additional $2,500 to support our work connecting and strengthening Eugene’s creative community.

Any amount counts. Every person gets us closer.

But 30 isn’t just a fundraising goal. It’s 30 people choosing to invest alongside the many artists, organizations, businesses, partners, audiences, advocates, and volunteers already making Eugene’s creative community stronger.

Will you be one of the 30?

✨ Give today through the link in our bio.

It takes all of us. by @abaeeugene

Eugene is full of incredible artists, arts organizations, creative businesses, venues, and cultural experiences.

And when all of that creativity is connected, the whole community becomes stronger.

Artists need ways to find audiences and opportunities. Businesses need ways to understand where they can participate and invest. Civic leaders need good information about what the creative sector needs and the value it creates. And sometimes, people simply need a reason to get into the same room.

That’s a big part of what ABAE does.

We work across arts, business, and civic life to build the relationships, shared understanding, and collective action that help Eugene’s creative community thrive.

Because the stronger the connections between us, the stronger the whole ecosystem becomes.

What happens when a food event, a university welcome and an illuminated parade all land on the same Saturday downtown?

More than just a very busy day.

On September 26, Taste of TrackTown, Ducks Downtown and the Eugene BRiGHT Parade will bring thousands of different experiences, people and reasons to explore downtown Eugene. But the story that caught our attention isn’t just what’s happening — it’s how it came together.

One event created an opportunity for another. New partners saw what was already happening and found ways to add to it. And together, those individual efforts became something bigger: a shared invitation to experience the city.

✨ What can happen when a community builds around a spark?

Read “A City That Creates Together” in our latest newsletter (link in bio) for the full story and a glimpse of what downtown can look like when arts, business, education and community come together. by @abaeeugene

Arts education doesn't end when the school day does.

Across Eugene and Springfield, arts organizations, artists, studios, and creative businesses are giving young people opportunities to dance, make music, perform, create, learn, and explore.

One example is Ballet Fantastique, whose downtown studios bring hundreds of students into the heart of Eugene each week. As an ABAE-sponsored Lookout story explored earlier this year, those experiences build confidence and independence for young dancers while also connecting families to downtown and the larger community.

And if you're looking for opportunities for a young person in your life, start with the ABAE Arts Guide. Search local arts organizations and explore workshops, classes, performances, and other ways to get involved.

There is a lot happening here. Let's help more young people find it.

What does arts education have to do with Eugene’s creative economy? A lot.

Earlier this year, ABAE partnered with Lookout Eugene-Springfield to tell the story of young people participating in Lane Arts Council programs, from selling their work at the Youth Arts Marketplace to working alongside creative professionals through apprenticeships.

These experiences introduce young people to entrepreneurship, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and professional pathways. They also help young people see something important: there can be a place for them in Eugene’s creative future.

Arts education isn't separate from workforce development, community building, or economic vitality. It's part of how we develop the next generation of creative thinkers, makers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

And that's part of why advocacy matters. When we talk about the value of arts education, we can make the case not only for what it means to an individual student, but for what it contributes to the future of our entire community.

What can the arts mean in the life of a young person? 🎨🎭🎶

For National Arts in Education Week, spend some time with two local conversations exploring that question.

In Arts and Youth in Eugene, Miranda Atkinson of #instaballet and Wynter Eddins of Simply Youth Institute discuss moving beyond the idea of art as simply “enrichment” and looking at the arts as a lifeline for youth well-being.

And in Arts & Music Education, local arts leaders explore both the abundance of cultural activity in Eugene and the challenges our community continues to face in providing arts education and opportunities for young people.

Arts education isn't just about creating the next generation of artists. It's about giving young people opportunities to create, connect, discover what they're capable of, and find where they belong.

🎧 Want to listen? Head to the City Club of Eugene website and search for Arts and Youth in Eugene and Arts & Music Education to hear both conversations.

The more we understand the role arts education plays in our community, the better equipped we are to advocate for it.

It’s National Arts in Education Week!

This year’s theme is Every Student, Every Community — and here in Eugene, arts education happens in so many places.

It happens in classrooms and after-school programs. In dance studios and theaters. Through apprenticeships, workshops, mentorships, performances, and opportunities for young people to make and share their own work.

And those experiences do more than build artistic skills. They help young people develop creativity, confidence, connection, and a sense of where they belong in their community.

This week, we’ll be sharing a few ways to learn more about arts education in Eugene, discover opportunities for young people, and help champion access to the arts for every student.

Each month, we share Art Links—a small sampling of arts and culture events happening around Eugene to make filling your calendar a little easier.

➡️ Maybe it’s spending the weekend surrounded by local artists at Open Studio at the Garden.

➡️ Maybe it’s teenage rebellion and an electrifying rock score with Spring Awakening at Oregon Contemporary Theatre.

➡️ Maybe it’s seeing Indigenous traditions and contemporary art collide in Jeffrey Gibson’s major exhibition at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.

➡️ Maybe it’s discovering just how much creativity can fit into three inches at Radiant Community Arts’ So Small miniature art auction.

➡️ Maybe it’s power, prophecy, and Verdi at full force as Eugene Opera opens its 50th anniversary season with Macbeth.

➡️ Or maybe it’s seeing the whole thing after catching a glimpse at BRAVA, when Minor Mirage brings its live score for The Wind back to the Art House in October.

One of the best ways to support Eugene’s creative community is also one of the simplest: show up. See something new. Visit a space you haven’t been to before. Experience the work local artists and organizations are putting into our community.

And, of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. What’s on your radar this September? Drop a comment and tell us what you’re excited to see, hear, or experience. 👇 by @abaeeugene

The September edition of Creative Connections is here!

What happens when a glowing parade, $5 tastes, and hundreds of brand-new Ducks all converge on downtown Eugene on the same Saturday?

Our latest Spotlight looks at Taste of TrackTown, Ducks Downtown, and the Eugene BRiGHT Parade, three very different experiences coming together on September 26, and what they can teach us about creating a city where arts, business, education, and community build on one another.

And, of course, we’ve packed in plenty of reasons to experience the arts this fall from open studios and tiny art to Spring Awakening, Macbeth, and more.

There’s lots to explore. Link in bio.

Don’t wait for the algorithm. 😉 Sign up for our email list and get Creative Connections straight to your inbox each month. by @abaeeugene
