Here’s some things Gods been showing me lately about leading worship!

You can’t love worship more than you love God. This might seem obvious. Worship is meant for God! But trust me, when your leading worship sometimes 5 nights a week, worship can become more idolized than God if your not careful. Song choices and creating moments can steal your attention and it’s easy to forget this is for God, not for you or the congregations enjoyment.

I had the privilege of attending the LO Sisters Conference this year and there was so much I learned that I can’t wait to share! But something specifically struck me as a worship leader while being there. I unintentionally sat directly across from the Robertsons family section. This was also where the worship leaders would sit when they weren’t leading. All weekend I watched Tiffany Hudson, Taya, Kari Jobe, Jenn Johnson, Anna Golden and so many more worship leaders worship OFF the stage. And it changed my life to see they ALL worshiped as if they were still on the stage. At one point I saw Taya standing on her chair, Tiffany on the ground in her row, and Anna jumping around in the isle. They all worshiped with the same amount of passion and zeal as they did on stage. It was convicting to me as I thought about all the times I’ve just observe when someone else is leading. Is it at that point when it becomes a performance? When your looking a certain way on stage but different off the stage? Also side note, Tiffany & Taya didn’t lead till the very last set. They sat through the entire conference and participated. Are you participating in your entire service that your leading at? Are you sitting in for the high school service or the weekend? Just a thought

Some of your best leading will come during trials, when you don’t feel worthy to lead or don’t want to lead. Let me give you an example of what I mean by this. A couple months ago I was going through it. I lost someone I loved very much, in the midst of a really busy work season where I couldn’t take a break, I was going to court for my older kids and honestly the last thing I felt like I should do was lead people in worship. But I noticed in that time it was much easier for by @abbeyemilysmith

I’m so blessed to have a partner with the same calling as me. I had a thought once that being married would mean I had to stop my calling of being a Worship Pastor and solely support my husbands calling. But Anthony pushes me each day closer to that calling.

There’s two couples in the Bible that I think of regularly when it comes to a husband and wife in ministry. The first is Priscilla and Aquila. And the second is Zechariah and Elizabeth.

Priscilla and Aquila turned their life into ministry. They were tent makers displaced from Rome because the Emperor made all the Jews leave. They followed Paul to Ephesus, and didn’t just follow him, but Paul says “risked their necks” for his life. They became so knowledgeable about the gospel they even confronted Apollos’ preaching and taught him “the way of God more accurately” - Acts 18:24-26
Later in 1 Corinthians 16 we hear they are in Ephesus and have a church in their home 😭

They are one of my biggest inspirations. Doing life and ministry together and teaching others together. Not just making ministry their job but their life, bringing it home and welcoming others into every part of their life.

In Luke 1:3 it says this about Zechariah and Elizabeth “They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.” I don’t know that there’s another couple in the bible that this statement is said about. There’s individual people but not a married couple. This is the BIGGEST goal for my marriage and my life! To not just make things work, but to live a life set apart, fulfilling a higher calling, living in righteousness for the Lord our God!

Let this be an encouragement to you! There’s so much more to life than just getting through it. Follow your calling and DONT SETTLE! I promise it’s sooo worth it, and the Lord not only sees your desires but places them into your heart for a reason! Follow your calling!

Words can’t express how proud we are of these boys. It’s been a privilege to work with them for the past two years. And two years flew by way too fast 😭

I took this video a couple weeks ago at a high school worship practice when they were all on. It was just for fun but while taking it, I was reminded how much they’ve grow in these two years.

Enjoy watching them do their thing 🤍 Proud mom.

* Both would recommend!!

Top favorite place this time was either Lola’s or Harmony Books

- Lola’s, we got the 4 course dinner for 2 and it was out of this world. The whole place was something out of a dream. Can’t wait to go back!

- Harmony Books, we’ve been here many times, but this was the first time we talked with the owner, who was so knowledgeable about all of the books Anthony and I are currently reading! It was a great time nerding over Brandon Sanderson & Sarah J Maas books with the kindest stranger!
