Introducing our twin daughters, Valentina Noelle Grimaldi & Sofia Colette Grimaldi 🎀 Born an hour apart last Monday, our fraternal girls each entered the world in their own way, Valentina normally at 5 lbs 7 oz & Sofia via emergency c-section at 5 lbs 1 oz. Happy 1st Birthday, Valentina & Sofia! 🎀 A year ago today we met our beautiful baby girls. Valentina, our strong sweetheart with the widest smile. Sofia, our soft snuggler with the sweetest cheeks. We used to dream of twins, & they are our dream come true. Becoming their twin mom has shifted my life in the most profound ways this year, inspiring new levels of love, strength, & resilience. There is so much that we pray for these little girls, & I can’t wait to see them grow up together. They bring us so much joy, & I truly can’t believe how far our 5-pound, overseas-born princesses have come. We love you, Val & Sof! 🦋 by @abbygrimaldi23

My family 🌷 Photographed in May in North Dakota to celebrate my dad’s retirement. 🫶🏻 People always ask me how I do it, living between the US & Russia with 3 babies, & these people are my how. There’s rarely a day I’m not on FaceTime with my mom, dad, sister, or all 3 of them combined. This week marks one year since we first moved to Russia & almost a year since the twins were born. People say you need a village when you have twins, & even though my village has been mostly virtual, they have sure made a difference. Babies are truly the joy of life, & I’m so glad I get to be an auntie & mom to so many special ones.

& to all my fellow moms out there calling your own moms on the daily - keep ringing that phone! Your moms love to hear about what you’re eating for dinner tonight, what movie you watched last night, & what new trick your toddler can do. Last Friday my Grandma Horn passed away. 🪽 She was the most precious Little Lady I’ve ever known. I’m going to miss sharing my babies with her on FaceTime & the way she would call me Abby Dabby. I’ll miss the sound of her voice & the way she somehow felt shorter every time I saw her & gave her a hug. I’ll miss her & Grandpa’s house & all of the charmed childhood memories it held. She was the most adoring grandma. & best of all, she is the reason why I am a twin mom. Yes, twins run in my family. My girls are the first living set since she & her twin were born 84 years ago. Thankfully she had the chance to meet them in May, which was so special for both of us. 🎀

Almost as hard as saying goodbye to her has been the heartbreaking reality that she died two days before we left for Russia, so I had to leave my family behind & miss the funeral this weekend. I can’t put into words how crushingly sad that has been for me. Yesterday my family gathered in Minot to say goodbye to Grandma as I watched through a screen with the fattest tears covering my face. I wish I could’ve hugged my family, given my wake speech in person, & sang one last time for Grandma in her church. Instead I relish in what I do have which is a lifetime of memories with her, a heart of love for my mom’s family, & a peace that comes from knowing Christ even as I grieve this great loss from the other side of the world.

My grandma was a wonderful singer & one of the greatest fans Lexi & I could’ve ever dreamed of. She was always there for our biggest moments & to quote her favorite song, she truly raised us up to more than we could be. 🦋🌷 by @abbygrimaldi23

10 Years 💍 10 years ago today I put on my dream dress & married my best friend. Planned by my mom & I & set in my hometown, it was the wedding of my childhood dreams. Perfectly pink & so sparkly, it was the day two bright-eyed 22 & 23-year-olds started a life together. A day of incandescent joy, celebrating finding love at such a young age & beginning the God-ordained journey of marriage with the greatest fanfare from family & friends. One perfect day, frozen in time. No concrete knowledge of what life would bring, but a deep hope & anticipation for it.

To be met with 30 moves in 10 years. 10 cities, 8 states, 2 countries. The highs & lows of professional hockey. The hopes & dreams of an artist. Buried grandparents & chapters closed. New addresses & new friends. So much change & growth. Even more laughs! Two babies of the family growing up together, learning to cook, clean, & create a home life in hotel after hotel & city after city. Working so hard to thrive in each season, always embracing new versions of each other. Being truly transformed by Christ, individually & together. & best of all, adding 3 perfect babies to our family, each unique displays of God’s wondrous design.

I see these photos & smile at the beautiful hopes & dreams pictured. Since then we’ve perhaps experienced more life, travel, & change than some will in a lifetime! “Home” (Official Wedding Music Video) 💍
Today we celebrate 10 years of marriage, & I can’t think of a better way to reminisce than to share a wedding music video for the song I wrote about our marriage so many years ago. If you have been my friend for a while then you might remember when I originally released “Home” to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. At the time we had already moved so many times for my husband’s hockey career, & writing & releasing this song was the perfect sentiment to share. I don’t know if I’ve ever written a more lyrically meaningful song in my life!

Another 5 years later, & we’ve moved many more times. & somehow, this past year, we found ourselves living on the other side of the world in St. Petersburg, Russia, bumping our total up to 30 moves in 10 years of marriage. By God’s great kindness & grace, my marriage continues to be “home” to me. Our nomadic hockey life is unique, & through its twists & turns we’ve continued to grow the most beautiful bond in our marriage. Happy Mother’s Day! 🌷 I don’t know anyone else who has been blessed with 3 babies in a 17 month span, & every day I wonder why God would pick me for such a stellar gift! These babies have changed my life in the most profound way. Raising a miniature @rgrimaldi23 & fraternal twin girls with their own looks & personalities is such a dream. Greetings from the USA! 💙🇺🇸 8 months ago 3 of us landed in St Petersburg, Russia, & last week 5 of us landed on US soil! Never in my life did I think hockey would bring me to Russia with a 1-year-old & twins in tow. I will forever look back on this season as the bravest thing I’ve ever done. There is so much I’ve reflected on, but the thing that made me tear up recently was the deep knowledge that it was Jesus who was with me every moment of this season. He guided our family there, protected the twins & I in a foreign birth, & so much more. There were many moments where I felt so small & scared to be so far from home, but in every single one of them - there was Jesus. Now we’re home & the twins get to acquaint themselves with their homeland, but I know that the defining moments of this season will stick with me. We did it!! ❤️🏒 taken in USA by @abbygrimaldi23

Twins’ 1st game! 🏒 I have dreamt of putting these two up to the glass to say hi to @rgrimaldi23 since before they were born. My biceps are sore, my heart is full, & there’s a tiny tear in my eye! After a high risk pregnancy, twin birth in Russia, & 6 months of adapting to life as a twin mom, this moment was something to cherish.
