There are some basic facts about immigration that Americans are not aware of, that I believe hinder our ability to have productive conversations about what immigration progress looks like. Even people who are currently on the right side of history will sometimes misinterpret what is required in order to become a citizen of the United States. One basic requirement, with a few exceptions, is that you have to be a resident before becoming a citizen. Residence is a term of art meaning lawful permanent residence or green card holder. Your ability to become a green card holder is not just based on how long you’ve been in the United States. You have to have a discrete pathway available to apply for residency. I was worried for a minute but the @sunsolvemd was actually really nice. I went to Pilates after some errands and it didn’t burn my eyes and from the sweat which is an added bonus.
