What do you do when a comrade snitches? Do you enable them, or do you take a stand against their betrayal? In this case, we are here to inform you of Gabriella Oropesa who threw their co-defendants under the bus in hopes of a shorter sentence (spoiler alert: they did not receive a shorter sentence) while others enabled and excused their actions. South Florida ABC firmly believes that snitches have no place in our movements. A snitch on the inside is dangerous to our movement, so please take the time to read up on your local rats.

We received this inspiring audio message from Malik for RDTW2026. The words and message of Malik Muhammad, a political prisoner whose voice continues to reach beyond the walls built to silence them.

Write to Malik at:
Malik Muhammad #400523
Marion 183
Broad River Correctional Institute
4460 Broad River Road
Columbia SC 29210

Birthday: February 13th

Malik is a Black/Palestinian pansexual muslim, anarchist, antifascist and anti-racist abolitionist. They were charged with possession of unregistered destructive devices, engaging in civil disorder and obstructing law enforcement and using explosives to commit a felony. They have a young child. Malik has a long history of protesting and associated actions for Black liberation.

On April 5th, 2021 Malik was arrested in Indiana, and then extradited to Oregon. They were given a $2.1 million bail. Through great struggle, the required 10% of it was met by the Portland Freedom Fund, but revoked the next day. Within 24 hours of their release, Malik was rearrested by federal officers. They were then imprisoned in Multnomah County where they were held in solitary confinement for around 90 days. On July 29th Malik was moved, pretrial, to the state’s only federal prison, FCI Sheridan. At Sheridan, They participated in a hunger strike that successfully increased prisoners free-time from 30 minutes every other day to four hours per day everyday, and one day per week outside for recreation. In 2022, they were sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Life in Prison:
Malik has been writing about their thoughts and experiences when incarcerated at: https://malikspeaks.noblogs.org

They have a support group on Mastadon at: https://kolektiva.social/@malikspeaks

Malik can also receive communications electronically, and prefers that method for consistent correspondence. Register at: gettingout.com
From there, it’ll let you pick South Carolina and then pick Broad River and then enter Malik's name or number - but it won't let you actually send messages unless you 'validate' with a driver's license and that takes a day or so.

“I will see you when we are all free.”
Champagne Song

We lift up the words of Champagne Song, a political prisoner whose courage and refusal to be silenced remind us that repression cannot extinguish resistance.

Champagne, thank you for your message. Thank you for your courage, your clarity, your trust, and your unwavering belief in the collective power of our communities.

You remind us that we are not isolated.

We are a sea of us.

Write to Champagne Song at:
Johnson County Jail, TX
Benjamin Hanil Song, 202502108
P.O. Box 247
Phoenix, MD 21131

Birthday: March 22

You can address Song as Champagne or B, and any/all pronouns are okay.

Song, the most harshly sentenced Prairieland defendant, having received a 100-year prison term, gave a moving statement in response to their sentence, explaining for the first time the motivations for their actions the night of the noise demonstration at the Prairieland ICE Detention Center. “What we all saw happen to Renee Good and Alex Pretti is my worst nightmare,” said Song. “So, when I was standing in the street on July 4th, 2025, in plain view with reflective safety strips and high visibility clothing, what I saw right in front of my eyes was my worst nightmare,” continued Song. “When I saw Lieutenant Thomas Gross stop pursuing and point his gun at the back of a running, unarmed protester, like he testified, I was terrified.”

“As a firearms instructor and a United States Marine Corps Veteran, I understood what I was seeing. I knew what it meant for someone to lean forward into a gun, […] to prepare for recoil. As the evidence shows, I did not want to hurt anyone. I never had the intent to hurt anyone. It is impossible to say that I was trying to ambush or anyone or planning violence,” Song told the court. “I am so grateful that we are not here mourning another death and tragedy. Another Alex Pretti. Another Renee Good.”

“You may feel tired, like giving up, but remember that we need you and we need your help.” — Oso Blanco

we lift up the words of Oso Blanco, a longtime voice in the struggle, and we thank him for his message to everyone taking part in Running Down the Walls.

Oso reminds us that this 5K is not simply a run.

It is material solidarity.

Behind the walls, incarcerated people are being forced to pay outrageous prices for basic necessities like soap, toothpaste, food, medicine, and the everyday things needed simply to survive.

Meanwhile, incarceration continues to operate as an industry built around profit instead of justice.

That is why we run.

Write to Oso Blanco at:
Byron Chubbuck #07909051
USP Atwater
Post Office Box 019001
Atwater, California 95301

Birthday: February 26

Indigenous rights activist serving 55 years for bank robbery, aggravated assault on the FBI, escape and firearms charges. Oso Blanco is a wolf clan Cherokee/ Choctaw raised in New Mexico, whose Cherokee name is Yona Unega. He became known by the authorities as “Robin the Hood” after the FBI and local gang unit APD officers learned from a confidential informant that he was robbing banks in order to acquire funds to support the Zapatista rebellion in Chiapas, Mexico throughout 1998-99. This year, Peppy reminds us that we do not stand alone. We stand alongside our comrades, our loved ones, those who came before us, and those who will come after us.

Thank you, Peppy, for reminding us of the strength that lives within us and the even greater strength that emerges when we stand together.

We run with the fallen.
We run with those still behind the walls.
We run with those who continue the struggle from wherever they stand.

And when our own strength begins to falter, we remember those thousand hands at our backs.

As Running Down The Walls 2026 gets closer, the messages from our heroes from the inside start trickling in.

Thank you, Bill Dunne, for your message and for sharing your words with us. Your resistance is part of a struggle that does not end at the prison gate.

Write to Bill Dunne at:
Bill Dunne #10916086
FCI Butner Medium II
Post Office Box 1500
Butner, North Carolina 27509

Birthday: August 3

Bill Dunne is an anarchist political prisoner who was sentenced to 90 years in 1979 for the attempted liberation of comrades from Seattle’s King County Jail in downtown Seattle, Washington. During the escape a shootout occurred and eventually Bill and two of his comrades were arrested.

In 1983 Bill tried to escape from USP Lewisburg and for that was sentenced to an additional 15 years, 7.5 years of imprisoned in the notorious control units at USP Marion. Bill had his first parole hearing in 2014, which was denied. The parole board‘s reasoning was due to the fact that Bill still maintains communication with anarchist groups and individuals. Not only has Bill been in solidarity with the anarchist movement and the individuals and groups that take part in it, but also Black liberation movements and indigenous resistance movements.

Through the years Bill has also taught GED classes at almost every prison at which he has found himself, helping many prisoners get their GED.
