RDTW Reportback - read at chicagoabcf.ftp.sh or ABCF.net

On Saturday the 19th of September, chapters of the Anarchist Black Cross Federation (ABCF) on occupied Turtle Island held the annual Running Down the Walls (RDTW) non-competitive solidarity 5K marathon and fundraiser event. Each year people hit the concrete both inside and outside prisons for a collective run, walk, roll and march towards freedom for political prisoners and the abolition of prisons. RDTW is also the primary yearly push to raise funds for the ABCF Warchest which each month puts money on the books of political prisoners/prisoners of war to help with commissary, communications and other financial needs. This year Running Down The Walls events were held in Los Angeles CA, Bloomington IN, Philadelphia PA, Brooklyn NY, Kingston NY, Ft Lauderdale FL, Lowell MA, Eugene OR and Chicago IL.

This year’s Chicago RDTW descended upon the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), a brutalist downtown skyscraper imposing harshly upon an otherwise pleasant tree-laden plaza that had until recently been fenced off from protesters and people looking for a place to hang out in public. MCC is also kitty-corner to the ICE Field Office as well as State Department and U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services offices. This was the second year that RDTW was held at MCC, also the site of occasional noise demos, but is not subject to nearly enough attention considering all that has happened at the hands of the feds in Chicago and elsewhere this past few years.

The federal Bureau of Prisons holds our comrades captive in a dehumanizing destitute existence that has only increased in cruelty as the Trump Administration weaponizes the DOJ against immigrants and resistance movements. It’s been a hard year of escalating fascist repression: militarized stormtroopers rampaging neighborhoods to kidnap undocumented people into networks of imprisonment and deportation, the targeting of dissent as “terrorism” with manufactured federal conspiracies and lengthy sentences, increased repression of political prisoners behind the walls, and even the criminalization of zines and blogs.

19-year-old anarchist Dmitry Syutkin has begun studying languages intensively in prison. Let’s support Dmitry in his efforts!

Dima has started learning English and plans to learn the basics of German and French. In July and August, the project already sent him English and French textbooks. It is not yet clear whether these suited his needs, so the project wants to send him another batch of study materials, including a German textbook that we need to purchase for him.

Check for donation instructions from our website - link in stories and highlights!

Dima keeps his spirits up in detention and jokes a lot. He is a curious, outgoing person with a wide range of interests who, unfortunately, receives few letters so far.

Besides languages, he is interested in history, screenwriting and psychology.

At school, Dima was a member of a drama club and volunteered to help clean up parks in his home village of Sosva and take part in charity concerts for children with disabilities.

Address for letters - letters and address must be written in Russian, you may use automated online translation services.
Адрес для писем: 620024, Свердловская область, г. Екатеринбург, Елизаветинское шоссе, д. 19, СИЗО-5,
Сюткин Дмитрий Александрович, 2006 г.

Electronic letters can also be sent through ZT (link in our site).

In 2023, Dima was contacted by an “unnamed handler” from the Siberian Battalion, who offered him “help leaving the country”. The person he was speaking to put him in touch with another “handler”, this time from the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), who asked the teenager to deliver Molotov cocktails to some people. FSB officers were waiting for him at the meeting point.

Dima was charged with various charges of terrorism, the charges could carry a sentence of 10 years in prison. The next hearing is scheduled for 7 October.

Before his arrest, Dima lived in Serov, in the Sverdlovsk Region, and was studying logistics at college. He ran a Telegram channel called “Free Homeland”, where he promoted anarchist ideas and Ural separatism.

Since summer 2013 members of several Anarchist Black Cross groups discussed the necessity of introducing an International Day for Anarchist Prisoners. Given there already established dates for Political Prisoners Rights Day or Prison Justice Day, we found it important to emphasize the stories of our comrades as well.

Many imprisoned anarchists will never be acknowledged as ´political prisoners´ by formal human-rights organizations, because their sense of social justice is strictly limited to the capitalist laws which are designed to defend State and prevent social change. At the same time, even within our individual communities, we know so little about the repression that exists in other countries, to say nothing of the names and cases involving many of our incarcerated comrades.

They cry "baby murder" and "abortion moral panic" all the way to the bank -- so I went and pulled the bank statements. (And the 990 tax filings, the property assessments, the Sec. of State filings, and all kinds of other publicly available information!)

Then I analyzed it, synthesized it, and organized it into juicy, robust dossiers just for YOU -- everything relentlessly sourced for accuracy. 🔬📂

Introducing WOMB RAIDERS, the newest investigative series on "The Abortionfluencer Files" Substack! In every installment, I dig deep into publicly available records for The Forced Birth Industrial Complex's loudest, best-funded voices, then break it all down.

A taste of what's already in the files:
-- A "pro-life" nonprofit quietly sitting on a six-figure stock portfolio.
-- A "ministry" where a married couple pays themselves 82% of the budget.
-- A nonprofit that invented a fake company to run its undercover stings.
-- Big donations scrubbed clean of the donors' names.
-- Lots more!

First up: David Daleiden and Seth Gruber.

Up next? She found God and a film deal, and she's been enjoying the payoff ever since. You gotta read my two pieces to find out who it is. 😉

Here's the deal: Most of my reporting is free, and it always will be.But the financial analysis -- the part that names the people and the profits behind all that hyperbolic rhetoric coming for our personal liberties and takes DAYS to put together -- lives behind the paywall. Just $6/month, or grab a full year for $60 and save a little.

I want to do right by my readers, I really do. But a girl's gotta pay for Trump's gas and grocery prices somehow! 🫶 (But there is still a metric shit-ton that is free!)

Read now:
-- Tap the LinkTree in my bio to reach The Abortionfluencer Files on Substack
-- Or go straight to theabortionfluencerfiles.substack.com
-- Then click the Investigations drop-down and open "Womb Raiders Exposé."

Then get your cute booty back here and tell me whose halo you think slipped the hardest. 😉

The Origins of the International Day in Solidarity With Earth Liberation & Anarchist Prisoners

By Jeff (Free) Luers
Full text available on abcf.net

"I am not a martyr and I am not a hero. I don’t fit some perfect archetype, and I can’t live up to any ideal of what so many people think I am. I’m just a man who loves without being able to say the words and who cries without being able to shed tears. I chose this life. I chose the possibility of prison. I chose to forsake my personal life for that which I believed in. It was not out of any altruistic or self-sacrificing desire. I chose this life because I don’t think I could live with myself if I did not.”

I wrote those words on June 3, 2004, in my regular dispatch from the Oregon State Penitentiary, the state’s oldest and only maximum-security prison. About a week later the world would witness the first June 11 International Day of Solidarity with Jeffrey “Free” Luers and Earth Liberation Prisoners. That year June 11 made national headlines because the FBI graciously released a public safety bulletin warning that car dealerships and other business may be targeted by environmental radicals and anarchists. We are currently heading into the 22nd annual Day in Solidarity with Earth Liberation & Anarchist Prisoners!

By June 11, 2006, the sixth anniversary of my imprisonment, 43 cities around the world held events including Eugene, Oregon (where I lived) and Moscow, Russia where brave, black- clad anarchists spray painted the US Embassy in broad daylight with giant letters demanding my release before dispersing into the crowd.

But the truth is that June 11 started with a small group of friends trying to support a friend they lost to prison and ran a campaign to seek my release. Afterall what are politics if not personal? We struggle because it is personal when your freedom is taken and your world is burning. And when you lose a loved one to the struggle it gets even more personal than you can imagine.

As I sat behind those bars my thoughts were often with those I left behind. The struggle was ever present, that part was easy, the State always made sure of that.

Anarchist partisan Ruslan Sidiki needs a new lawyer – his lawyer was arrested!

Lawyer Igor Popovsky, who represented the anarchist Ruslan Sidiki and sought an investigation into his allegations of torture, has been detained on charges of “fraud on an especially large scale”. This was reported by The Insider media outlet, citing the leak-oriented Telegram channel “112.”

According to the channel, investigators claim that Popovsky received 6 million rubles from his client after promising to help terminate the criminal case through influence over the court and the prosecutor’s office.
The detention took place shortly after Ruslan Sidiki’s case was transferred to the Military Court of Appeals, although as recently as May 19, Popovsky was still in contact.

Eventually according to Mediazona, Popovsky was confined to house arrest.

Igor Popovsky was among the few Russian lawyers who openly sought recognition of defendants in sabotage cases as prisoners of war under the Geneva Convention. In 2024, he submitted a motion to investigators referring to the prosecution’s own claim that Sidiki had allegedly acted in the interests of Ukrainian intelligence, which, according to the defense, made it possible to regard him as a combatant. In addition, Popovsky succeeded in obtaining medical documents indicating that Sidiki had been tortured after his detention and insisted on an investigation into those circumstances.

Anarchist Black Cross of Moscow considers the persecution of Igor Popovsky to be revenge by Russian security forces because he publicized matters they did not want exposed.

Now one of the few brave lawyers independent of the security services is under investigation, while the imprisoned anarchist Ruslan Sidiki has been left without legal representation ahead of his appeal.

Now we need to raise funds for a new lawyer for Ruslan!

Before arrest of Popovsky, 210,000 rubles (circa 2400 euros) were required for 3 months of lawyer costs, but now the costs may grow.
