Not everybody has to do a Fastest Known Time. Most of us are happy to do a Funnest Known Time. But if you like numbers, here are my stats 📈👉

For me, it was never about being the fastest. I had set aside 12 days, planned to do it in 11 days and if the weather was kind and my body was feeling good, I could do it in 10 days. I wanted a fun, but challenging adventure and to experience new places.

By doing the DNT Signatur tour MASSIV, (translated to massif), I got to move from cabin to cabin through 4 stunningly beautiful national parks, watching how the landscape changed from steep mountains and glaciers in Breheimen, to the wide open landscape on Hardangervidda.

This 364km tour through challenging terrain takes most people 18 days + a couple of rest days.

But with a pack that weighs 3kg (4 if you add 1L of water), it’s possible to move with a faster pace and to keep going for longer.

People say I run, but most of the time, I’m just moving faster than the rest. When there’s a trail to run, you run, but most of the time, the terrain was not suitable for running. You’re jumping from rock to rock and trying to find your way.

And I absolutely love it! And to be able to get to a cabin in the afternoon, getting food served and even a shower is just amazing. This is my kind of vacation and I truly recommend trying out the fast and light version when going out on a multiday mountain adventure.

If you have questions about how to pack or any questions about the MASSIV route, feel free to post it in the comments or to DM. I’m always happy to share my tips and experiences on how to get the best fastpacking experience 😌

Are you planning to hike Besseggen this summer, but are worried that it will be very scary? Let me take you through the most exposed section of the hike. And yes, it feel airy, but the ridge is actually 5m at its most narrow point, so it’s not as bad as you might think. Just follow the red T marks, and you’ll be fine ☺️

Save this for your first Besseggen hike and let me know if you found the hike more or less scary than you expected 👇😎💬

I love autumn 🍂😍🍁
I love every season. I love the changes they bring. How autumn turns the green into golden and warm colours, how the colourful leaves cover the trails. How the air tastes like this time of the year - fresh, crisp and earthy. I think trailrunners learn to appreciate the changes that the seasons give us because we spend so much time out in nature where we can experience all the elements. You don’t really get to feel the changes if you only run on the pavement in the city. So, even though the pace may slow down out on the muddy and slippery autumn trails, you get something else in return that’s better than just pushing that marathon pace on the road. Go for it. Try it. You’ll not regret it 😎

📍And if you wonder where this amazing view is from, it’s Maridalsalpene (Gaupekollen ⛰️ and Mellomkollen ⛰️) in Oslo #trails View from Gaupekollen in Oslo. Forest and fjord view. taken in Maridalsalpene by @abelonely

Postcards 📷 as over 3000 runners tackled Oslos Bratteste - 2.7km and 407m+ run.

Community - fun - family and yes, a little pain on the way up to the finish, that for some, is a long time coming.

A race for everyone, 12 is the minimum age, and at the other end? No limit.

There is even a flex category for any age - compete, you get a time but no ranked result.

Oslo’s steepest - from Wyllerløpya to the lift house following the slalom slope.

Do you spot anyone you know?

Oslos Bratteste 2026 ✅🏅

Just as painful as every previous editions 🔥
Just as steep as every previous editions ⛰️
Just as fun as every previous editions 🥳

I love how this event is for everyone, from little kids to 90 year olds, elite runners and the people who use an hour or more, for those who have a clear time goal and for those who doesn’t care about the time at all.

It’s so uncomplicated, all you need to do, is to put on your bib and go conquer that hill 😎 #oslosbratteste

22k (which was actually 23k) was such a good event and although my body wasn’t feeling great, the trails, the vibes and the atmosphere made sure I had a great time. Some absolutely wonderful running trails, or «Flyt stier» as we say in Norwegian.

I love racing in Sweden 🇸🇪❤️ they really know how to make a good atmosphere both on the race course and on the finish line 🏁 you kind of feel like you’re attending a party just as much as a race 🕺 💃

Another thing that I really enjoyed, was that we shared most of the course with the 100milers, 100k and 50k runners. And that gives the 22k runners a great opportunity to cheer for all the warriors that are fighting their way through the final kilometres of their race 💪

I love this about trail and ultra running, how the community is really supporting and encouraging each other. It’s quite different to road running, where it’s all about pace and performance. Of course it’s fun to do a good pace and perform well on a trail/ultra race, but that’s not the only thing that matters. If you don’t have the best performance day yourself, you can still have a good race, focusing on the nature, the vibes and the other people around you.

For me, this definitely wasn’t a «best performance day». After being down with a cold last week, I still haven’t recovered fully and luckily, I realised that in time to switch to the 22k distance in stead of doing the 50k.
I switched race fuel drink mix and gels for chocolate date snacks and decided to do it as a chilled fun run. Of course, that plan was forgotten the moment I crossed the start line 🤦‍♀️ pretty knackered (and surprised) when I reached the finish line 2 hours and 27min later 🏅

@strandafjordtrailrace 55k is a proper challenging race, but also one of the most beautiful races I’ve ever done 😍 I love running in Stranda, and I keep coming back to this race because of the vibes, the people and of course for the amazing nature ⛰️⛰️⛰️ but every year, I seem to forget how tough this race really is 🙈 If you’re looking for a proper wild ultra adventure in Norway which will give you fjords and mountain views just like a @visitnorway commercial, this is the race I would pick 😎👌 Go for it, or choose the 25k if you prefer a shorter option or the 95k if 55 seems a bit short 😅 #strandafjordtrailrace taken in Stranda, Møre og Romsdal by @abelonely

Velkommen! 🏃🏽‍♂️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️🔥🌊 taken in Sukkerbiten by @abelonely

Another fantastic summer has passed and I’m so grateful for all the wonderful adventures I’ve had 😌 SAGA, Breheimen, Jotunheimen, Trollheimen and so many more beautiful places, cabins and hotels and tent spots. For me, summer is about moving around in Norway. I basically live like a nomad for a couple of months. Mixing simple cabin and tent life with a bit of luxury every now and then. I love it, and if you ask me what I’m doing next summer, it’ll be exactly the same. I’ll go back to places I love and I’ll find some new places to fall in love with. I’ll go with my family and I’ll go on my own. I’ll eat lots of cinnamon buns and I’ll take ice cold dips in mountain lakes and probably find a glacier to play around on for some time. I’ll eat plenty of local food, buy lots of local honey, soap, cheese and sausages. I’ll pick berries, read magazines and do crosswords. I’ll cuddle with goats and talk with a whole lot of sheep that I’ll meet on the trails. I’ll say wow to lots of amazing waterfalls and fill my phone up with photos and films of memories I don’t want to forget. Most of them you won’t see, but here’s a few of many amazing moments from the summer of 2026. Almost all of them captured by @iancorlessphotography 📷😍

Thanks summer, now I’m ready for some fun and beautiful autumn adventures 😎🍁 taken in Norway by @abelonely
