It’s been a minute. Most of my trips have been to Lowe’s over the last couple of months but this month was able to get out a little more. #drums #producer taken in Houston, Texas by @abelortajr

Just drums. Loops aren’t just for background. I view them as an extension of the drums to be interlaced as a big percussion section. Drum Mix Breakdown Ep.30 The “Drum Mix Breakdown” series is one of my favorite to create because it allows me to be expressive with audio and visuals. I love challenging myself to be better than my previous self and this series represents that. When I started “Drum Mix Breakdown” it was to highlight what’s going on under the hood because I never mix drums in solo but rather in the context of the song. Part of the challenge I put on myself was to only use the live mics without using samples and to do whatever is necessary to get the sound I want. What are some ways you challenge yourself? taken in Houston, Texas by @abelortajr
