i’m happy to share @henryryeder and I’s new single “comes for free” which captures our shared love of the debaucherous sound of acid house circa summer of love ‘88. you can snag the pre-release on bandcamp today and it’ll be out everywhere 3/27.

we’re lucky to have a slew of nyc’s best producers along for the trip whose remixes touch on acid-inflected downtempo, melodic breakbeat, dub, trip-hop, and motorik.

we’ll both be playing live with @bluemena_ on 3/29 @night_club_101 to celebrate the release. hope to see you there!

hi friend,

out today is the second release under my fuzzyy alias. if features @iamjuliehill’s soaring vocals and @yeah_right.get_real’s mixing/production/bass chops. @rsabe525rsabe lent his big beats, @pontchartrain_music provided the master, and @snakesandrews did the art.

this song came together @lazyriver.nyc after my phone was stolen and we reflected on the freedom that came with that loss.

in addition to the main mix, there’s also a live drum dub which should please the djs in the crowd (dm me if you want a d/l). the prerelease is on bandcamp today and both mixes will be widely available on october 10th.

hi friend,

out today is my first release focusing on the sounds that first got me into music-making: trip-hop, shoegaze, breakbeats, grunge. my name for this project is ‘fuzzyy’: a word that describes a feeling, a memory, an aesthetic, my general appearance, and furry creatures of all kinds.

the song is titled ‘nights in the basement’ and tries to capture my experience of going to clubs now: a strange combination of nostalgia, melancholy, and boredom; a whiff of transcendence in a haze of dull details.

joining me is my extremely talented friend @longbeardband who graces this track with her crystalline vocals and haunting guitar. my recent shift in music making has been motivated in part by watching leslie perform her precise, direct, perfect songs. if you haven’t heard her music, please go dig through her many amazing releases.

@snakesandrews made the album art and brought fuzzyy to life. i think i asked for “a curled up half-dog, half-cat” which they quickly materialized in their distinctive style. i was lucky to get them on board before they took over the internet (look up horse race tests!!!)

@pontchartrain_music mastered the two tracks. it was my first time working with dustin and I will be doing so again. if you find yourself getting lost in this track it’s because he carved out just enough space for every part. i sometimes think of making a song like decorating a room. dustin made it one I think you’ll enjoy spending time in.

the two versions will be more widely available on june 20th. for now you can pre-order them on bandcamp and download the main version (there is also beatless version which brings leslie’s vocals more to the front and lets the song stand more on its own).

i’m planning on putting together a live set for this project, likely featuring me on a suzuki q-chord doing my best impression of guitar. i’ll let you know when i find a time and place to share it.

i’m happy to share an improvised ambient set @yeah_right.get_real and i performed at @lightandsounddesign a couple months back. river and i synced up in a way i’ve never really experienced as a musician and i think it shows in the recording. you can find it on any platform under “fuzzyy and river rainne - community acupuncture.” there’s also a bandcamp link in my bio. thanks so much to @datadata.wav for the invite. 💕

i also became a father in the past month and turned forty today. here’s to new chapter of family, friends, and flowers.

im very excited to share that @yeah_right.get_real and i will be providing improvised musical accompaniment to ‘community acupuncture’ next friday in greenpoint. expect soft, slow, healing sounds.

the event is organized by my dear friends and collaborators @practicing.world who’s offering cranio touch therapy and @iamjuliehill who’s making food.

As a whiny California kid who was reared on Weird Al, it has always been my dream to make a pop punk parody album. Thankfully @amaidendiesinabedroomfaraway came up with the idea for “Red and Green Day” - a collection of Green Day covers with Christmas-themed lyrics - and invited me to contribute.

And it’s so good!!! There’s 13 songs (only four are about killing Santa), some people actually played real instruments, and there’s an incredible cover by @snakesandrews. Make sure to read the lyrics 📖

I’ll be giving a presentation this Sunday afternoon @wondervillenyc on saysynth - the command line synthesizer I built on Mac’s speech synthesis framework.

Much appreciation to Isidore and Claire of @composition.codes for inviting me! They’ll also be presenting their work which you won’t want to miss.

If you’ve seen me perform saysynth before, this will be a bit different. I’ll be talking more about the history of speaking machines and the significance of that history given the rise of AI. Though I’ll also share a couple of new works.

The first slide is a version of la monte young’s drone piece @dreamhouse_mela showing off some new features of saysynth including remote rendering (a requirement now that Mac has deprecated the ability to program pitch curves) and alternative tunings.
