Raorchestes signatus aka the Star-Eyed Bush Frog is endemic to the Western ghats. The female of this species has the distinct star-eye, the male doesn't possess this feature. This species is listed as endangered as it is believed to be in decline due to habitat loss and climate change. I was very lucky to find this individual.

Yes, it's a woodpecker but it's called the Greater yellownape.
.
In certain cultures in the Himalayas, woodpeckers are revered as sacred forest guardians, the constant chiseling and pecking is a rhythm of habitats taking shape for other species to thrive. They are often viewed as caretakers of the woodland and in some folklore they are known as the, "Carpenters of the Mountains"

In ancient times, Zuluk served as a part of the Old Silk Route that connected India to Tibet. Traders used this path to carry silk, wool, salt, and other goods. This route was used for trade & cultural exchange between India and Tibet, but in 1959 all trade between India and Tibet was shut down because the Chinese illegally occupied Tibet.

I was privileged to travel within Zuluk, witnessing ancient remnants of the historic Silk Route and hearing stories of the flourishing trade that happened in the wild winding route all the way upto Lhasa, home of the Dalai Lama.

Mountain Pit Viper aka Ovophis monticola, they inhabit mid-elevation areas (800–2500 m), thriving in moss-covered forests where their effective camouflage allows them to ambush small prey. Compared to other vipers, they pose relatively less danger to humans.

It's almost the end of the year! This was 6 months ago :o..

@kokoderesorts .. had the most wonderful time here. Completely cut off, no network, just the slow life. Clean accommodation and just 2k including meals. We even saw a wild elephant right near the property and some interesting plant and reptile life. Not to mention a Malabar squirrel hopping about in the trees! A true break for nature lovers! taken in Nilgiri mountains by @abhinbin
