I never thought a bachelors degree was something I could accomplish. I graduated high school with two point something GPA. My mental health defined my life. I could only afford to get into community college and didn’t have the GPA to get in anywhere else. I watched my peers go to 4 year colleges while I stayed home and went to CCP. What was deemed a failure to others, ended up being the best 2 years of my LIFE.

When I transferred I bet on going to WCU, choosing my major, and decided to make the most out of my scholarship there. I chose to take a risk and was so rewarded.

But I was extremely homesick. I cried my entire drive to orientation. I thought I made a mistake even leaving Philly. Attending a PWI in several leadership roles changed me - but for the better. From hosting Diwali or doing Sexy Bingo, I cannot express how much I needed WCU. The late nights in the GIS lab, going to Jake’s, or laughing with @gracejroberts on our way to Clout has made every single sacrifice so worth it. I have succeeded in ways I never thought was possible. I am filled with so much gratitude and humility, and think about the women in bloodline who could not imagine being in my shoes. I do this for them!

This degree took a village - but it also took me being a villager. It is so clear to me that our liberation is so interconnected & relies on us showing up for others.

Today I am a college graduate from West Chester University! With a B.S. in Urban & Environmental Planning & a job offer. I have nothing but gratitude for the professors, faculty, and my peers for getting me to this point. This is only the beginning!! And the 1st degree of many 🎓🧿 taken in West Chester University of Pennsylvania by @abi.tho

reminiscing on some of the best times i had at west chester & am extremely and beyond grateful to have been part of @sasa_wcupa in such a meaningful way ❤️ for those going to a PWI and scared to leave ur dorm - join your multicultural org!!! i am so beyond grateful and honored to have had such an amazing eboard this year & i couldn’t imagine being a WCU student if i didn’t join SASA. next up, graduation! 🎓 thank you @justinframe700 for the amazing pics 💐 taken in Sykes Student Union by @abi.tho
