If you’re new here, I’m Abi Caswell 🤍

A home baker turned 2 bakery-storefront owner. I started my business in my house in 2021 after lots of encouragement from friends.

In early 2022, I started selling at @hammondmarket and could barely keep up with demand! Lots of hours spent on the weekend, just my husband and me, making/rolling/baking hundreds of cookies.
By the end of 2022, I opened my first storefront in Downtown Hammond.
At the end of 2024, I opened my second location in Downtown New Orleans.
At the end of 2025, I launched my first (of many 🫶🏻) dry Cookie Mix product of our best selling Chocolate Chip cookie so people could bring a little piece of BATTER home with them.

I’ve always shared the realistic side of owning a business, (mostly on TikTok) so that other entrepreneurs can see beyond the facade of making your own schedule (lol) and what people presume is freedom in working for yourself. There are lots of positives, but I share more than highlights.

When I’m not physically at work, I’m probably playing tennis or traveling with my husband; and these things keep me sane!!

I wanted to share all of this, because I’m currently navigating a lawsuit tied to my business; something that has opened my eyes to just how many challenges and unknowns come with entrepreneurship that no one prepares you for. Especially WOMEN in business. Because what I have learned, is some men think women are easy targets for manipulation in business. (These men hadn’t met me yet; they didn’t know any better.)

Because of that, I’m going to start sharing more of the real, unfiltered side of business ownership, and also sharing my little black book of men and their tricks to manipulate women in business. This is no longer just a space to document my journey, but more so to help educate and empower other women building businesses of their own.

I hope my insights help you, and avoid you having to learn everything the hard way (like me 🥲.) If you have questions, concerns, or just need someone to talk to about entrepreneurship, my dm’s are open 🩷

The biggest thing holding your business back… might be you!

As your business grows, your time becomes your most valuable resource. Bringing in experienced freelancers has helped me spend more time leading my team and less time trying to wear every hat.

I’ve loved being able to find specialists for big projects without committing to another full-time hire.

If you’re ready to delegate and grow your business, post your first job for free at Upwork. (link in bio). @upwork
