The city of Pensacola has said it will take crews roughly 3 months to be finished picking up all the debris from Hurricane Isaias. Amazing how much work goes into the cleanup!! The audio works as well as my arms did after cleaning all this debris! 🤣 We wanted to give another update on the damage caused by hurricane Isaias at our home shop. We are happy to report no major damage! Just a ton of debris and of course, no power. Thanks to all the crews that came to help with the recovery effort by trimming trees and getting everyone’s power restored. Of course we were a bit nervous to head home because we didn’t know what to expect. Everyone on the gulf coast knows this could have been so much worse! Seeing everyone come together to help each other is amazing and is always my favorite silver lining to witness. Simple & satisfying 16” Proto adjustable wrench restoration using our @evapo_rust

I picked up a couple of these high quality tools during our recent road trip while visiting some antique stores. The Proto wrench had quite a lot of surface rust so we soaked it in the Evaporust for a day.
Afterwards I applied two coatings of cold bluing to darken the wrench and give it a good look and feel. Once done, a good coating of @crcauto 3-36 lubricant was the final treatment to get this wrench back in good looking and working condition.
Now we have another good tool for the shop that’s ready to be put to work.

We got to visit the good folks @ingersollcuttingtools in Rockford, Illinois after the IMTS show and had a great time!
They gave us a tour of the campus to see how they manufacture their carbide inserts and steel cutter body’s.
They also put on some awesome demonstrations to show us some new high feed aluminum inserts they’re developing, a new style of end mill for roughing aluminum and even got to see the Aluminator and DiPosFinish in action, the same cutters we use on our drill index. After watching that demo, it’s telling me I can definitely work on my own feeds and speeds.
We also got to see some high feed action on some steel and exotics as well. Really nice seeing what some of these cutters are capable of doing.

The crew gifted me a beautiful plaque they engraved thanking me for all of the educational (and entertaining) video content 😁

I can’t thank all of the folks at Ingersoll enough for their generous hospitality and inviting Abby and I inside the factory to give us a look around. We enjoyed meeting everyone and learning more about the tooling that Ingersoll develops and manufactures.

Found another beautiful cast iron lamp while picking in Illinois!
I love collecting these vintage cast iron oil lamps. I have a really nice selection of them that I’ve picked up from all over this country.
Since I’m not familiar with this particular make, I did some online searching and found some info.

A.C. Wells & Co. was a prominent British engineering and manufacturing company founded in 1879 by Arthur Collings Wells in Manchester, England. The company became highly famous during the late Victorian era for inventing and manufacturing “unbreakable” cast-iron industrial oil lamps, flare lights, and engineering equipment designed to withstand harsh industrial environments.
The firm’s breakthrough innovation was the Wells Light, a portable, high-candlepower, pressurized paraffin/gas-fueled light patented in the late 1880s. It provided shadow-free, immense illumination (ranging up to 2,000 candlepower) and became an essential tool for nighttime outdoor construction, shipyards, and railways across the British Empire. Because it required no expensive on-site electrical generation plants, it was widely adopted for major Victorian engineering feats.
“Unbreakable” Hand & Torch Lamps: The company produced a massive line of heavy-duty cast-iron lamps—such as the Single Torch No. 5A and 5B or the Kettle Torch No. 18—marketed for miners, railway workers, and engineers. A signature trait of their cast-iron line is that the words “WELLS” and slogans like “STRENGTH & DURABILITY” were cast directly into the metal bodies.

Bullard 18 Inch Precision Level
Manufactured by The Bullard Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
I found this level while out picking in Illinois, one that I’ve never seen before. It was in such good condition I had to add it to my collection! The bottom has been hand scraped.
Notice the accuracy, .00025” per foot 😎
Even the original case was in great shape!
