Grateful to have attended a wonderful evening hosted by @croatiafulloflife and @croatia.airlines in Dublin, at the beautiful @irishgeorgiansociety this Wednesday.

The event celebrated the stunning beauty, gastronomy, and culture of Dalmatia, represented by the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County. @visitsplit

It was an honour to meet H.E. Davor Vidiš, Ambassador of Croatia to Ireland, Bisera Fabrio from Croatia Full of Life, and many inspiring people dedicated to strengthening ties between Ireland and Croatia.

A memorable night filled with connection, laughter, and stories that captured the true essence of Croatia, it almost felt like being back home. 💙

A toast to Andro Tomić. 🍷

It was a absolute pleasure meeting Andro in his cellar in Jelsa and sharing a glass together. Hearing his perspective on Croatian winemaking and tasting through the portfolio was a highlight of the trip.

I’m currently finalising a full write-up covering the visit, cellar tour, and tasting notes. The blog post will be live soon, link will be in bio.

As a major Chardonnay fan with a few go-to favorites, the 2023 Maison Louis Latour Mâcon-Lugny has officially earned a top spot on my list. It’s 100% Chardonnay at its best, striking a refined balance of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, and a clean, vibrant finish. A standout choice for anyone who appreciates pure, un-oaked French white wine. 🥂

@louislatour1797

Profile: Fresh, mineral-driven, and fruit dominating

Pairings: Excellent as an aperitif or paired with seafood, poultry, and light summer dishes

Zagalo Plavac Mali 🍷 | Hvar, Croatia

A little taste of Hvar in a bottle. Made from Plavac Mali, one of Dalmatia’s signature indigenous grapes, this is a rich, sun-soaked red from the south side of the island, where vineyards cling to the steep rocky slopes above the Adriatic.

At 14.9% ABV, it’s full-bodied, ripe and warming, with the character you’d expect from a Mediterranean Plavac Mali, dark fruit, spice and plenty of sunshine.

And one of the perfect Croatian pairings? Pašticada - the slow-cooked Dalmatian beef dish with its rich, sweet-and-savoury sauce. 🍷🥩

A wine that feels very much of its place: Hvar, sunshine, stone, sea and tradition. 🌊☀️

Snapped this from my room in Dalmatia this summer, a granddad taking his grandkids out on the boat. ❤️

As peaceful as this moment was, the crazy heatwaves across Europe this summer were a heavy reminder of how fast things are changing. Seeing places close to my heart like Croatia and Serbia struggle with extreme heat and wildfires really stayed with me, especially knowing how much climate shifts impact the local land, harvests, and regions we love.

I’m no climate expert, but it makes me want to pay closer attention. Consume a little less, waste less, and support people taking care of the environment. Just living a bit more consciously so the next generation gets to enjoy this beautiful world too. 🌍✨

🇨🇾 Wine from Cyprus

2024 POZE Rosé from @kyperounda_winery - a mountain winery located high in the Troodos range, known for producing fresh, vibrant wines thanks to the cooler altitude.

This rosé is made from the indigenous Maratheftiko grape, giving it its deep pink color and expressive fruit character.

Tasting notes:
🍓 Fresh strawberries
🍒 Red cherries
🌸 Light floral notes
🍋 Crisp citrus finish

Dry, refreshing, and nicely balanced with bright acidity.

I enjoyed this bottle with BBQ and it worked perfectly - great with grilled meats, smoky flavours, and warm evenings outside.

A bottle gifted to me by close friends in Cyprus, which makes it even more special.

P.S. Drink responsibly!

A bottle with centuries of history behind it. 🍷

Wine was first widely produced and preserved in monasteries, where monks carefully cultivated vineyards and developed winemaking techniques that shaped much of Europe’s wine culture. This Vranac 2018 from Tvrdoš Monastery is a beautiful example of that tradition still living on today.

The Tvrdoš Monastery dates back to the 15th century, and its monks have maintained a long tradition of viticulture ever since. Some wines are still aged in a historic stone cellar from that period, using methods passed down through generations while combining modern techniques today.

This bottle was a thoughtful gift from family and the perfect wine to open over Easter, sharing something rooted in history and tradition.

🍇 Vranac
Indigenous Balkan variety, name means “black stallion”

Palate
• Dark cherry & blackberry
• Dried plum
• Subtle spice
• Earthy notes
• Firm, structured tannins

Food pairing
• Roast lamb
• Grilled meats
• Aged cheeses
• Mushroom dishes

A wine that feels like drinking a small piece of history.

P.S. Always drink responsibly!
