@liannelivepure Here's an honest moment. Whenever I look at photos of me from a race, I always dread what they will look like. This is me at the home stretch of the 2017 @londonmarathon I remember that moment vividly. I remember looking down at my legs to check if they were still there! I was in so much pain that I was actually talking to my legs to tell them to keep going! I reminded myself of my mantra "think strong, be strong, finish strong" I told myself you're just 200 metres away from the finish! When I first saw this picture my initial reaction to this picture was to delete it. But I'm proud I didn't! It's me, pushing myself to get that PB I'd trained so hard for, yes I was looking down checking in with my body. Yes my legs were still there, and I could also see my flabby skin and jiggly body fat are all over the place. I continued to stare at my legs moving one step forward with every ounce of my being! It was all I could do! I was drained in so many ways. As I look at this picture, I can remember how my mind went to a dark place, during the race and brought out my own inner bully. If I had known my photo was being taken, would I have looked up with the smiliest face? Probably not! This photo is for me! It reminds me of how hard I worked and reminds me, not every photo we take or share needs to be a flattering photo. Does this photo show the hundreds of miles I've run? No. Does it show all those 6am training sessions? No. Does it show the hours of weightlifting? No. Does it show all those sessions on a stationary bike, getting that leg power stronger than ever? No. Does it show all the times I've got lost on a run? No. I initially put a negative thought on this photo. But I've slowly came to realise, these are the kind of photos I want to see more. The photos of us, putting ourselves out there and hoping for the best! Right there, that's a photo of me being me! Pushing myself towards a goal, I've decided to chase with every ounce of my being. It's me chasing that PB with every step! The true battle royal with me and my mind! This is me getting stronger and getting closer to the enemy within. .
