“Turn my hi-hat up…” 😂🎧 Had my first audiobook recording session last Friday & the whole time I’m thinking to myself, “Lord, is this really happening?” After 14 years of rewrites, imposter syndrome, and writer’s block, I’m actually reading the words that God had been writing on my heart through seasons of doubt, depression, anxiety, loneliness, and dis-ease. To think of where I was when I began writing the first draft of this manuscript to where I am now—a devoted follower of Jesus, wife, and mother—it’s surreal to think about how far I’ve come on this journey, and how God’s hand has been so evident through it all. The fact that I’ve been graced with the opportunity to record my entire book in a brand new, state-of-the-art studio—free of charge—can be attributed to no one but my Heavenly Father. He continuously reminds me of His faithful provision through the incredible village He’s placed around me. Thank you to my family at @goalline_detroit for opening up your beautiful facilities and allowing me to be part of such an incredible program for the next generation. Thank you to my husband & babyzaddy @robbo1den for always being your amazing, supportive self. And thank you to my awesome sissy @erinondemand for coaching me through my first session. 🥰 What a poetic, full-circle moment to be reading about my former struggles & insecurities while carrying my babygirl. I pray every word vibrates through her precious little soul so she will never have to wonder who she is and Whose she is. 🙏🏾💕 Join my email list for exclusive pre-order access! #linkinbio by @accordingtokori
And then there were four 🥰… In a few more months, our baby boy will have a baby sister. 🥹 Excited to meet our princess, and to see Rob turn to complete mush as a girl dad 😭💕. - 📷: @j.milhouse 💄: @antonioamonbeauty 💇🏾‍♀️: @paige_eman by @accordingtokori
Still feels like yesterday when we were standing at the altar, ecstatic to finally become husband & wife so we could consummate our marriage 😂. Three years and a baby & a half later, we can still be as deep and as unserious as we’ve always been lol. Standing beside you as you’ve led our family through seasons of triumph and sacrifice has made me somehow love you beyond anything I could ever fathom. Being your wife has made me a better woman. Nothing brings me greater joy than loving & serving you every day (Ephesians 5:22). But perhaps my favorite part about being married to you, as I shared when you asked this morning, is that I still like you lol. I still get excited for you to come home every day. I still appreciate how we can laugh at literally anything lol. I still love that through everything life has thrown our way, we can still be us. And I look forward to spending the rest of our lives doing exactly that. I love you, Babe. Happy Anniversary. ♾️ 📸: @jwhitehornmedia_ by @accordingtokori
This is me a couple months ago during a meeting with my graphic designer and brother in Christ, @deonmixon. We were sitting in my kitchen, leafing through some books for inspiration on font styles and typesetting for my first book. It’s taken me 14 years to write what God had patiently been writing on my heart—a beautiful testament to His faithfulness and perfect timing (Philippians 1:6). I’m thrilled to be in the final stages of getting it ready for print. September 3, 2012, was the day I discovered that the autoimmune disease I’d been battling for over a year—dermatomyositis—had gone into remission. My condition surfaced during my junior year at Howard University, riddling my body with severe inflammation that produced rashes, muscle weakness, chronic fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes. My skin felt like it was on fire. My body felt like it was breaking down little by little. My soul felt like it was fading into oblivion. Over time, God would reveal that my physical ailment had been pointing to a deeper, internal affliction—one I’d been suffering ever since I was a little girl: Dis-ease. I lived in a chronic state of unrest—constantly overthinking in failed attempts to control my reality, and modifying myself to gain others’ approval. Each inflaming my heart to remain in one condition: Broken. And after enduring a chronic cycle of one heartbreak after the next, I’d eventually learn that there was only one person who could mend it & make me whole: Jesus. My autoimmune disease journey became a living parable of my journey to Christ: The pain.
The weakness.
The fear.
The hope.
The healing.
The renewal. On September 3, 2023, my husband Rob and I got baptized two weeks before our wedding day, September 17. It was a symbolic moment that not only marked the date of my physical remission 11 years earlier, but the salvation of my soul through the remission of sin that came from Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection. Now, after 14 years of false starts & rewrites, I’m finally ready to share the story God has been writing on my heart all along. “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV). My book is currently being prepared for print (the manuscript is with the graphic designer being typeset as we speak). It truly takes a Village! 🙏🏾 Can’t believe it’s already been a year with our sweet boy 🥲. God has been incredibly faithful and His Hand is evident through the village He’s placed around us. New to this & true to this 🙏🏾 To be a mother is to be used by the Lord in a supernatural way. And what a blessing it is! Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazingly beautiful, super cool mamas out there. ~John 16:21 by @accordingtokori
Joy in April 💕 by @accordingtokori
Ch. 35: Mama Ko 🌸 34 challenged & cultivated me in the most beautiful ways I never fathomed. It started with the Holy Spirit convicting me to trust Him with ALL my plans, including when Rob and I would have our first child. Ironically, we got pregnant on my birthday, the same day our new home listed on the market. It’s giving Proverbs 3:5 — living proof that when we trust the Lord over our understanding, He directs our path in perfect order. In less than a year, the Lord has graced me to conceive & carry a child, become a mom, sell my first home, and purchase our new home to start raising our son in. None of this was in my plans lol but every mustard seed of faith that was tested yielded an abundance of fruit in not just tangible possessions, but in character & perspective. Grateful for the growing pains. Grateful for another year of life. Grateful for Jesus Christ who, in His perfect holiness, died & rose so that I could live a life in freedom & total submission to Him — a life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Thank you, Jesus, for 35. 💜 4.24.25 by @accordingtokori
These past 2.5 months of Mommyhood have been a crazy, beautiful whirlwind. Every late-night feed, every cry, every cuddle, every massive poop, and every sweet, innocent coo have brought me joy beyond imagination. I was born & born again to be this sweet boy’s Mama. And I thank God for every high, low, and in-between that led me here, to this moment. I love you, RCBIII 🩵 by @accordingtokori
33 years ago today, you took your first breath. Exactly one month ago today, you witnessed our son take his. Seeing you as a dad is a whole ‘nother level of joy I never knew existed. The way you care for our baby boy — your patience, intention, willingness, selflessness — is a breathtaking reflection of our Heavenly Father’s heart for His children. It’s a reminder of what pure, sacrificial love looks like when we rely on Christ over our limited abilities & understanding. It’s confirmation that there’s absolutely no one else in this world I was created to do life with. Today, and every day, I thank God for the gift & sanctifying agent He has given me in you, and in our son. I love you, Husband. Happy birthday. ♾️ Happy one month, RCBIII 💙 — “In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” ~Ephesians 5:28 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.“ ~Ephesians 6:4 “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” ~Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 — 📸: @melissamatzphotography by @accordingtokori
