Something strange is brewing at Ace.

Friday the 13th, we’re opening the doors to a night of live music, storytelling, tarot, limpias, herbal elixirs, curiosities, and a little good old-fashioned weirdness.

Celebrate the release of The Riddle Carrys On, a new musical world inspired by folklore, traveling circuses, the unseelie realm, and everything lurking just beyond the ordinary.

Come wander through the 999 Eyes Cabinet of Curiosities. Spin the Wheel of Fortune. Get a tarot reading. Sip something herbal. Hear Dylan Blackthorn & Friends bring the album to life with live music and storytelling.

Costumes encouraged. Strange is welcome.

We love the tradition of the tarot! I have been reading for over 30 years (I can NOT believe I can say that)! I get asked about how I feel about how popular it is now, and how I feel about how many people are offering readings. And I have to say I love it all. It is wonderful to see that the deck is more accessible now. When I first started reading cards, I was battling the perception that the cards were of the devil or some kind of a hoax or trick, decks were hard to find, books about tarot were few and I never found a tarot class. I hitchhiked around with one of my tarot teachers reading at festivals and rainbow gatherings with her when I was first learning at 15 years old, I traveled to Mexico and lived with another teacher who was a psychic and used the cards as a medium! It was not as easy to learn and the internet was non-existent. So how do I feel about it’s popularity? I am thrilled that it is easier to access the magic of this deck which can support us on our paths, in our occult studies and as a way to connect with community. I am so thankful that there is a magical world all around us despite some of the challenges of the modern world. I am thankful that people that don’t have guilt or taboo around receiving or offering tarot card readings. We are so lucky that we have so many amazing tarot card readers right here in Austin. Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is a gentle, calming member of the mint family that has long been valued in traditional herbalism for its relationship with the nervous system.
