Demo on this Nichols Hills remodel turned up some things nobody expected.

It’s a complex one. If we didn’t have a solid plan and a real relationship with our design team, our clients, and our trades, we’d be lost right now.

Instead, everybody’s been in lockstep. The trades are problem-solving. The designers at @kirbyhomedesigns are pivoting. Our clients have been nothing but gracious and trusting.

It hasn’t really set us back on budget or schedule. We’re about to finish rough-ins and get this place insulated and Sheetrocked.

Design, client, and builder all going after the same goal. That’s what makes a job like this work.

A few weeks ago, this was a slab.

Now the walls are up and the roof is decked.

We can move this quick because the planning was done up front. Every line under that slab was checked before the pour, so once framing started, there was nothing to stop and fix. The guys just kept building.

Next up, the trades come back for their rough-ins and pick up right where they left off.

Coming along for @clarebellaaesthetics.

Nine floor plugs. Every one of them lands right under an exam chair.

That doesn’t happen by accident. We spend a few months with the plans before we’re ever signed to get started, so everything ends up exactly where the client wants it.

For @clarebellaaesthetics, that means power right where each chair will sit and every water line in the wall it belongs in. Nothing gets moved later.

It also means that once the structure is framed, the trades come back for their rough-ins and pick up right where they left off. No starting over. They get in and get the job done quick.

That’s worth the time we spend planning!

What you see is a slab. What matters is everything under it.

This is the 5,000 square foot slab for the new @clarebellaaesthetics space.

Before we poured, we checked every single line. Water lines, drains, floor vents, floor plugs. Ground plumbing and ground HVAC all set right where they need to be. Once that concrete goes down, the last thing we want is to be cutting it back up to move something.

That’s where so much of the planning goes. Nobody sees it, but it’s what sets the rest of the build up for success.

From here it’s site prep, to slab, to structure. Walls go up, framing follows, and before long we’re standing inside an office, not just on a slab!

Happy birthday to Jordy! 🎉🥳

If you follow us, you already know his face. He’s in most of what our content, walking you through every step of the process, good and bad.

There’s a reason people trust the Acklin name in this state, and it’s him. He’s on job sites before the crews pull up and still taking client calls at night. He remembers the homeowners we built for five years ago and asks about their kids. He’d rather do it right and take the extra week than hand something over he’s not proud of.

We’re grateful to work for him! Happy birthday, Jordy.

Getting the height right happens before anything gets poured.

We’ve got ground plumbing and ground HVAC running inside this slab, so we need the depth. But every building around us sits level with the sidewalk, and we don’t want to be the one sitting up too tall.

So we dug our footings lower than you normally would. When the stem wall comes up, we land right where we want to be and the new space for @clarebellaaesthetics fits with what’s beside it.

That’s why the prep matters. Everybody on site needs to know what’s next and what we’re building toward.

Design. Plan. Build. Every project we take on runs through those three.

Blackout Ranch wasn’t our typical build, and we loved that. The client and Micah brought bold ideas and we were all in. Some of it took us into new territory, the kind where you trust the vision before you can fully see the finish. That’s the fun part. We figure it out, we learn, and we make sure the client’s dream is what gets built.

Design sets the vision. Planning makes it real before we ever pick up a tool. Then we build it.

That’s what matters. Building someone’s dream is the best part of the job.

The stonework in this house speaks for itself.

Two islands wrapped in marble, the veining carried around the waterfall edges so the pattern never breaks. The same stone runs up the backsplash.

The best part of this job is working alongside trades who are great at what they do. Young Brothers is one of them.

Back in the primary bath, the stone takes over. The whole room was built around it.

Up close is where it earns it. Every slab set so the movement carries clean across the wall. by @acklinconstruction

Our client has been dreaming about this building for years. Today we broke ground.

We’re on site for @clarebellaaesthetics, a new commercial build. As a small business, there’s nothing better than partnering with another one. This practice has grown year after year, and now they’re stepping into the next phase. A building of their own. Eight treatment rooms.

We get to be the ones who make it real. We’re going to show you every phase, start to finish. Stay tuned.

Still one of our favorite kitchens we've built!

Throwing this one back. The stone runs the full back wall, and instead of stopping it short we set a window right into the slab so you catch the tree line while you're at the range. Working the layout and the sightline around a window at backsplash height takes some planning up front, but it's the detail that makes the whole room.

Slate blue cabinets, brass, a big slab island. Still can't get over this one.

Everybody posts the wins. This one went sideways.

Stucco is one of my favorite masonry finishes. But it’s tough. Patching it is borderline impossible.

We had a miscommunication on this Bush Hills project, and the fix didn’t look right. So we’re not leaving it. We’re bringing the mason back to re-coat the whole front the right way.

Not everything goes perfect. What matters is you come back and make it right.
