Having owned an Art Gallery for 11 years with my photographer husband, I have been in a position to display and sell my own paintings.
I have no formal training, but come from a family of artists and art lovers.
The artist’s journey is a long and winding one and one that really doesn’t end at a fixed style.

I have reached a stage where I enjoy using gold and silver leaf to express my love of the London skyline. However, I enjoy, also, the grandeur of mountainous landscapes and high places.
I use both Watercolour and Oil, my Watercolours depict the forests and lakes that surround the area where I live, my Oil paintings reflect the mountains that stay in memory.
My London paintings, using gold and silver leaf, are made in mixed media.
I also have a love of painting the most difficult subject of all, flowers.
I look forward to exploring further and wonder where the road will take me.

Sonia Scott-Job
Venue 5, Twyford

I’m Sonia Scott-Job, an artist working predominantly in charcoal.
I’m fascinated by the movement, light and ever-changing moods of the natural world - particularly the sea.

I also work in pastel, acrylic and mixed media, exploring landscapes, trees and the atmosphere of places that inspire me.
My charcoal work is quite intuitive and physical. I smudge, blend, lift and erase the charcoal, building up the image until I feel I’ve captured something of the energy and atmosphere of a particular moment.
I’m drawn to the sea because it’s never the same twice. My colour work is similarly inspired by light, movement and atmosphere in landscapes and treescapes.

Paul Woolley
Venue 27, Sandhurst

I am both a painter and printmaker and exhibit locally and nationally.
My work uses images from the built environment, in conjunction with natural and organic forms.
I work mainly from photographs that I have taken at a variety of locations and use them to make new images. I particularly like to use buildings that have structures with strong spatial aspects and textures to them.

I gained a BA degree from Bristol Polytechnic, Faculty of Art and Design (now UWE) in 1974. When I came out of college I worked as a picture framer and restorer for a variety of different employers in London and elsewhere. For the rest of my working life I have worked in industry and with the teaching and training of young people.

Sandy Walters

Hi, come and see me
(Sandy J Ceramics) on the 7th & 8th November 2026 on the Acorns Open Studio Art Trail. I will be sharing Manuela Kagerbauer’s studio in Twyford, Berkshire (Venue 6)
My ceramics use stoneware and porcelain. I use glazes to enhance and communicate the look and texture of each piece bringing it alive. It’s always a thrill to open the kiln and see what will be unloaded. My work gives me a chance to be mindful and at one with the clay, I hope that this shows in my ceramics.
Thinking of taking wheel throwing lessons it’s a rewarding creative pursuit that starts with learning how to centre, open, and shape clay on a spinning wheel, contact me for details.

Through working with natural forms, derelict buildings and the changing landscape Jo is currently exploring pattern and texture.
Jo is also discovering what a great medium gel printing is for exploring colour.
Many small pieces will be on show together with work in progress at the Acorn Open Studios weekend.

Susan Thomas, Venue 7, Charvil

I am taking part in Acorn Open Studios as a chance to engage with anyone interested in being creative themselves. I am keen to share my approaches and experiences now I’m moving towards retirement and to show how I’ve embraced and indulged in my own creativity.
I’m hoping I can encourage people to have a go, get out there and indulge a little.
On the trail, I’m looking forward to showing my sketch books recording everyday life, my life drawing sketches from attending regular life drawing sessions and the concertina sketch books I’ve put together after holidays- a wonderful way to savour the memories of great scenery and great experiences. I’d also like to share my display of homemade Christmas cards that I’ve been making since 1988 and there’s a chance to buy some of these.

I enjoy the process of print making sessions which I’ve taken up again after a 35 year break. I am currently exploring new techniques. As well as etching on metal plates I’m using plastic and tetra packs to create a more free flowing look to my work. I love doing monotypes - one off prints that scream energy!
I see the value in practising drawing and painting on a regular basis. I quite often join online forums such as Stradaeasel where you’ve got to post an original piece of art each day. Whilst it’s quite time pressured I enjoy the thrill of choosing a subject and it makes me more focused and more relaxed about the end result. Other than that I keep a sketch book in my handbag and any trapped time, I can put it to good use.
