LINKS IN BIO: Fill Our the County Health Survey to Demand Healthcare Now!
ACT UP PGH demands that Allegheny County Council funds gender-affirming care for trans youth and creates a fund for people living with HIV. In order to do this, we need you to fill out the county health survey and sign our petitions!
The county health survey will give the Board of Health data to demonstrate the need to publicly fund our proposed programs. There are two questions near the end of the survey where you can write in to support our campaigns. See the doc in our bio for instructions!
We also have two petitions: one for our gender-affirming care campaign and one for our HIV care campaign. Please sign and share both if you live in Allegheny County. (If you signed in person, thank you! Don’t sign again online!) by @actuppgh

Last Friday, we joined over 100 advocates and community members at Philadelphia City Hall to hold elected leaders accountable for federal HIV/AIDS funding cuts and address years of underinvestment in healthcare, housing, and harm reduction services. #FIGHTBACKPHILLY

Instead of responding to federal threats by strengthening HIV care and prevention, Mayor Cherelle Parker and Philly City Council have worsened the crisis by targeting harm reduction efforts. At while the Trump administration is making it harder for people living with HIV to remain stably housed through burdensome verification requirements, attacks on Housing First policies, and incentives that criminalize homelessness.

From City Hall to Washington, we're witnessing a coordinated assault on the services and supports our communities depend on. Decades of progress are being rolled back in favor of the same failed approach of policing over care and profit before people. From the federal to the local, our government must end their hateful and cruel war on the vulnerable.

Under the North Shore side of the Warhol Bridge, on the Allegheny Landing Trail,
because:

1. They make parts for the F-35 which drops the bombs on Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, etc.
2. The recent $2.8 billion deal to sell Israel 2,000 pound bombs, to be paid with the military aid the USA grants Israel.
3. The F-35 drops those bombs.
4. Howmet's weapon contract is a minority of its business. It could transition to legitimate commercial products. a silhouette in grey and white of a face in semi profile surrounded by a faded keffiyeh design in red, black and green. The text appears in green and red blocks and reads, "Days of action for Palestine, Join us for the National days of action against howmet's F35 weapon contract. Three years of genocide, where are you howmet? Mask recommended Bring an umbrella, Oct. 10 2 PM Allegheny landing trail." On Sunday 9-27-2026, ACT UP picketed outside of UPMC Children's Hospital, in response to the deal made between UPMC and the DOJ, to remind healthcare workers to HONOR THEIR OATH and DO NO HARM.

UPMC last year preemptively ended gender affirming care for minors abandoning them. This year, UPMC is commiting to a 10 year ban. This deal protects noone and intentionally seeks harm to trans youth. UPMC has recognized the increase in self-harm and suicidality and continue to cut care. Shame on UPMC.

We call on healthcare workers of UPMC to remember their oath. Do no harm and resist harm demanded of you by financial and political intervention. by @actuppgh

Last year, Allegheny County recorded the fewest new HIV infections ever.
We must celebrate the announcement that Allegheny County recorded historically low reported diagnoses of HIV. This is a testament to the incredible work of the region’s community members, activists, and scientists. But most importantly, it is due to the tireless work of people with HIV fighting for their right to dignified health care. This incredible achievement is the result of hard work by groups like the Pitt Men’s Study, the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, and countless other community-led organizations. They struggled against hostile opponents who do not value the lives of people living on the margins, and they created a healthier, more humane region.
While Act Up is excited to hear the news about declining rates of transmission, it is important to highlight that healthcare for people living with HIV (especially long term survivors) is under attack. Without robust care for people living with HIV, we will see not only a rise in transmission, but the unnecessary and cruel deaths of many community members.
We are at a moment when we risk losing the incredible gains that we have achieved. While we celebrate how far we’ve come, we must honor the work that brought us here by fighting for a better future.

On 7/20, Shapiro approved SB45, which removed the last PA law that criminalized HIV+ people. Previously, sex workers would receive harsher punishment purely based on their HIV status. Removing this discriminatory, disgusting law is an important step. However, it’s essential that we keep fighting the stigma against HIV and sex work. As we celebrate this moment, let’s continue to advocate for sex workers and people living with HIV in Pennsylvania!
