ACT UP PGH is a diverse, non-partisan group of individuals united in anger and committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis. ACT UP! FIGHT BACK!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The controversy surrounding not-my-Rep Bernstein’s alleged attack on @malcolmkenyatta reveals a bipartisan knowledge gap in Harrisburg around healthcare policy.

But the data reveals a broader problem that will only get worse if leaders don’t get real about the economic consequences of its health policies 💯

Plague Rule
by Stewart Stafford

In a squatter’s season of plague,
Gales scream of blame and rage,
Our stormed candle-lighthouse stalls,
Though its beacon never palls.

Dignity shackled to those they abhor,
Desperately seeking any calm shore,
Our dormant strength arose in time,
Fighting back as we had to climb.

No one was coming to save us all,
A lynch mob glad to cheer our fall,
So we wisely pooled our resources;
Tiniest acts united into mighty forces.

@roskos.modernlife is the leader of Philly’s Next generation. They have been standing up, and fighting back since they were a teen!

Listen as they tell #phlcouncil and @phillymayor what they need to see from leaders of our city.

Last Friday, we joined over 100 advocates and community members at Philadelphia City Hall to hold elected leaders accountable for federal HIV/AIDS funding cuts and address years of underinvestment in healthcare, housing, and harm reduction services. #FIGHTBACKPHILLY

Instead of responding to federal threats by strengthening HIV care and prevention, Mayor Cherelle Parker and Philly City Council have worsened the crisis by targeting harm reduction efforts. At while the Trump administration is making it harder for people living with HIV to remain stably housed through burdensome verification requirements, attacks on Housing First policies, and incentives that criminalize homelessness.

From City Hall to Washington, we're witnessing a coordinated assault on the services and supports our communities depend on. Decades of progress are being rolled back in favor of the same failed approach of policing over care and profit before people. From the federal to the local, our government must end their hateful and cruel war on the vulnerable.

Mission accomplished! Hundreds of activists showed up in the streets of Philly to demand action on the local and federal level to restore cuts to Medicaid funding and AIDS education. We walked loud and proud through the city, delivering our list of demands to Senators McCormick and Fetterman and drawing crowds from Philadelphia, New York, and beyond. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made their voices heard. We will not be silenced! Just like every one of our riders and crew, YOU look like an activist!

Save the Date! Time and Place TBA. Come target Howmet Aerospace with us because:
1. They make parts for the F-35 which drops the bombs on Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, etc.
2. The recent $2.8 billion deal to sell Israel 2,000 pound bombs, to be paid with the military aid the USA grants Israel.
3. The F-35 drops those bombs.
4. Howmet's weapon contract is a minority of its business. It could transition to legitimate commercial products. on a back ground of pale keffiyeh pattern in red, black and green, centering a grey and white silhouette of a sad concerned face, the text reads: "days of ACTION for Palestine" in green and black block letters, then "Howmet Accountability Project by BDS Pittsburgh" in red and white, and across the bottom left, in red and white, "join us for the national days of action against Howmet's F35 weapon contract" and in the bottom right, in black and green, "save the date Oct. 10 downtown"
