Starting a new challenge for the betterment of the tattoo and art community on October 1. There’s a few of these types of monthly events that haven’t always resonated with me and I’m hoping to contribute something different. This is open to all who love tattoo art. Professionals, apprentices, appreciators, and artists of all kinds. I hope you’ll join me in challenging myself.

Rules-
•Use the prompts to create a piece of art that each day in whatever medium you prefer. Pen, ink, watercolor, collage, whatever you want.
•Share it daily using the hashtags #tattober #tattober2026 and tags the account @tat_tober
•Don’t offer advice unless someone asks for it. This is for improvement and unprompted criticism can be damaging.

•Support your community and celebrate your differences. Don’t hate on someone’s practice. We all learn from this. Encourage others who have the same love for this as you do.

The challenge starts October 1 for 31 days. I’m going to be sharing folks posts daily that I found inspirational. Feel free to tag me as well if you feel called to.

Save it, share it, support others.🧡🧡🧡

Thanks to @amydooz and all the team here at @remembermeavl for the support. Tattober is a drawing challenge created by artist Adam Guy Hays using a tattoo theme for a daily drawing challenge for the month of October taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @adamguyhays

Heres my favorite hack for drawing dragon heads. Memorable and useable proportions are always the key to learning. It’s hard to condense a career’s worth of practice into a 3 minute video so I hope the concept makes sense for you. Feel free to drop questions below and I’ll answer during my free time at @remembermeavl . Share it, save it, use it. Happy drawing y’all. ✌️🧡✌️www.adamguyhays.com #ashevilletattoo #ashevilletattooartist #ashevilletattooer taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @adamguyhays

Day 16, Wolf, Here’s what I’ve learned from this challenge so far. I like drawing in pen and ink in my sketchbooks and adding colors make me unhappy with them. Managed to wrap this one up but I really preferred it in all monochrome. I’m not gonna try adding color studies to this book on this project moving forward. I’d rather paint them later if I prefer. The markers I’ve used bleed through the pages and gets me pissy. Anyway that’s my rant. There’s also a wolf doodle from my wife @dyannacsaposs that made me smile in the last slide. She’s an effortless doodler that always impresses me. #tattober #tattober2026 taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @adamguyhays

@tat_tober Day 15, Nautical. There’s days where everything is a struggle and you don’t have time. Today was one of those days and I nearly said fuck it today. Managed to sit and draw with some encouragement from the wife who I’m grateful for and made it through. Know if you’re out there having a hard time you’re not alone. #tattober2026 #tattober Best tattoo artist in Asheville North Carolina Adam Guy Hays, Best Tattoo shop in Asheville, NC Remember Me AVL , best custom fineline Japanese tattoos. Day 14, Swallow. Mostly used today to explore some ideas and practice with the iPad which is never my go to. Seeing everyone’s digital contributions makes me think I should try to familiarize myself with it more but I’m just not efficient with it. I’d initially started as a pencil sketch and a lot of barn swallows but abandoned it. May circle back later. The challenge is to create everyday. Not create a masterpiece. #tattober #tattober2026 Best tattoo artist in Asheville North Carolina Adam Guy Hays, Best Tattoo shop in Asheville, NC Remember Me AVL , best custom fineline Japanese tattoos. Day 13 of @tat_tober with Death. It’s a theme I’ve always loved exploring. Memento Mori is a leaned on theme reminding us that we’ll all die eventually. It’s an equalizer and stoic reminder. Memento Vivere is similar but it reminds you to live as well. Love while you can. Embrace this one wild precious life you have and take advantage of it. I love that and wish it was a concept I could always hold. Y’all keep living out there. 🧡🧡🧡#tattober #tattober2026 #mementovivere Best Tattoo shop in Asheville, NC Remember Me AVL , best custom fineline Japanese tattoos. Traditional illustrative tattooing. @tat_tober Day 12 with Dragon. I’ve been meaning to do some process drawing videos since the beginning but time management for all the other aspects of this challenge plus life has made it restrictive. Managed at least to do a little time lapse of this dragon doodle this evening. Everybody cranked out some amazing things the last 12 days and it’s been such a privilege to share it with everyone. #tattober #tattober2026 taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @adamguyhays

Day 11 Religious. St. Lucia of Sicily.

Adam is tired, since it’s day 11 and so I, Dyanna his beloved, photographed his beautiful drawing, and I am posting for him. Which is fitting as St. Lucia is a special one for me. Her mortal story is her eyes were removed, which gave her the gift of second sight. Our Dog Lucia is named the same. Ask Adam about that story one day.

Adam is a constant inspiration for me, and the best human. Thanks for letting me post this one love.

@tat_tober Day 9, Luck. I wanted to do an accompaniment piece to day 3’s Love. I’m treating most of these like loose color studies and hoping to put them all together in the end as a Western Flash set. Not all of them will be a part but most will. Something about the idea of your worn out boots being your lucky ones made me smile. #tattober #tattober2026 Tattober is a drawing challenge created by artist Adam Guy Hays using a tattoo theme for a daily drawing challenge for the month of October. I’ve been so busy with my @tat_tober challenge that I’ve been slacking on posting actual tattoos. Recently completed this chest piece for Jen to tie together her two healed sleeves. I’ve adored working in this project and bringing these pieces to life for her. I feel like they suit her so lovely. I’m looking for a few clients to do some more ornamental work on both large and small. If you’re interested in chatting and finding out more I’d encourage you to reach out.
