“Moroccan society is perceived with its categories, its classes, and, ultimately, as the photographic gaze set out to discover the other.

Each of us reinvents photography in our perception, our will-to-look, our culture. Perhaps we attach little importance to the cultural matrices that give life to photographs. And so, photographs take on a life of their own, making light of the discourse of circumstance.

The Maison de la photographie de Marrakech offers a glimpse and understanding of a heritage shared by the two shores of the Mediterranean.”

extracts from blurbs at The House of Photography of Marrakech that offer a lens (haha) into our time in Morocco.
