FOOD4THOUGHT 🍲 A while back with @rice_fsa & @anakbayanhouston. Courtesy of the @ricedining staff, we cooked up a classic sinigang baboy and a lovely ube cake together - but the real nourishment was the conversation shared at the table. We talked about the ongoing fight in the US and Philippines against corruption, inequality, and violence, and what it means to push back against injustice.

At the heart of it all is love - love for our community, love for our culture, and love strong enough to demand better for our people. We recognized the sacrifice behind that fight and take pride in revolution as part of our cultural legacy as Filipino Americans. People Power lives on in every young person who chooses to become an engaged citizen and stand for truth, justice, and accountability. 🇵🇭🇺🇸❤️‍🔥 taken in Houston, Texas by @adasison

Filipino spaghetti! (Spaghetti! Spaghetti!) 🍝🇵🇭
Huge thanks to @uniprotexas and @meca_houston for inviting me to cook for the Sunburst Summer Arts Camp. Nothing makes me happier than sharing a taste of Filipino culture with the world’s toughest and tiniest critics and watching them fall in love with it! ☀️🫶💛 by @adasison

Keeping in my tradition of taking my graduation pictures a year later - Ada Jagape Sison, MSc Epidemiology. Lucky to have so much love in my life, and luckier still to have so many hands lifting me up along the way.

I was once a gap toothed kindergartner, somehow at the same time a ‘gifted&talented’ student and in ESL - what a journey it’s been!

I thought at first I was just chasing a dream from a curious tip offered to me by a stranger on a blustery cold evening at a pizza party on a certain rooftop that they were Masters programs in Basel, Switzerland. That little dream became reality when, a year later, I moved into tiny 12m2 room in a city I’d never been before and in a country where didn’t speak the language, where I made friends from all over the world, where I was broke as a joke but wrote essays and programs and a thesis fueled by a million PB&Js and free aperós.

The little dream became a passion not just for helping people - but for building genuine connections and understanding, and the passion a career and a beautiful life-in-progress that’s given me experiences and led to places that that little girl would have only yet read about in her books and stories.

Thank you all, & thank you to everyone who helped a gap toothed kindergartner believe that she could. 💛 taken in The World by @adasison

sometimes you just have to start off the year by joining a gumbo cook-off at your neighborhood bar to try something completely new. no prize won, but had lots of fun and made me happy to see everyone who came out to support me, and watch happy strangers happily eating my food. not bad for someone who’s youtube search history looked like the last slide for the past few weeks. @kinawboy_ 4ever 🤠 (shot by @gageyy.wageyy) by @adasison
