The world is such a big place. New York City, especially, can feel so isolating. So many people moving and rushing around you while you feel like you’re being left behind.

When I tell my friends that I struggle with wanting to live, I cause concern (rightfully so), but what I mean is that I’ve taken more of a passive approach to living life. I wake up and just keep trying to make it to the next day, focusing so much on tomorrow and end up ignoring today. I try to ignore the sadness, but I end up leaning into it so much that it turns into a deep depression.

Some days I will be sad and that’s okay.

But I also want to remind myself that happiness exists and should not be overlooked even when it feels minimal. Letting yourself sad is necessary, but but leaning on friends is what makes the world feel smaller in the best way possible. My NYC is now just a handful of people who remind me I’m loved ❤️

I also know that I have to make changes for myself and, in order to do so (taking an active approach to my life), I’ve been trying new things: writing (more than just journaling), experimenting with food, taking on pottery, crying in public, and letting myself be excited for the day.

I think we should all just keep trying and sharing our interests with one another! Social media often sucks, but it’s the reality we live in and we should make it into something we can use to connect with one another and be more honest with each other! Let’s pretend less, let’s be cringy!!! by @adaylinslife

After 5 years of no painting, fear keeping me from trying again and potentially failing, I realized that a little push is all you need in order to begin again. @litos_playground thank you for encouraging me, checking in on me when I’m working on something, and being there to cheer me on whenever I’m adding details to paintings—you inspire me so much and I am forever grateful to have you as a friend and someone to look up to for whenever I feel like giving up.
