Have you looked at someone’s photo and said to yourself; yep, I’m going there, then find out it takes 8-10 hours of hiking (a little over 14 miles) to get there?! Yeah, I was very delusional about my fitness level. Was told to go back down half way thru the hike due to a snow storm but my crazy self kept going solo despite my entire tour group going down. It was such a wild and challenging experience but happy I kept going. When I finally hiked down it was 9pm (12 hrs from when I started). I didn’t have any service up there so I didn’t get the texts the tour company was sending me and because I took so long, they thought about calling their rescue team lol I learned on my long journey that I’m mentally fit for these types of challenges, but physically? Absolutely not.

60th Country…little Addis is screaming with joy with tears in her eyes, because she never imagined she’d be fortunate enough to visit even one country, let alone 60. She’s always tugging at me, reminding me just how far I’ve come.
If you’d asked little Addis what traveling meant to her, she would have said seeking refuge, uprooting, and fleeting home. Back then, traveling wasn’t about exploration or joy—it was about survival. That’s why she tugs at me. Every trip I take, she reminds me that traveling by choice and for pleasure is a profound privilege—one she didn’t know growing up.
So yes, traveling is one of the loves of my life. There are a million reasons why I love it, but a big part is because of little Addis. She didn’t think she could make it to one country, so I’m proving to her that she can make it to all of them.

Thank you, Côte D’Ivoire for making this milestone special.

Wild what 13 years can do. The last time I was in Italy, I was 21 — living in Rome with 7 strangers, broke but so excited to be there. I remember applying to 20+ scholarships just to afford the trip, and I had zero clue how to travel.
I basically just tagged along with my roommates, who knew all the hacks and had weekend trips planned to places I hadn’t even heard of. I was the girl like, “Wait… you can fly with Ryan who? With salt content of 95%, you just float effortlessly but don’t ask how long it took to wash the salt out of my hair lol you’re literally covered in salt when you leave but it was such a cool experience. We just drove around until we found the lake we wanted to jump in but there are lots to choose from with different sizes, shapes, & colors.
