i lost my baby today. my eggy baby, my other half, my soulmate, and my companion. she fought so long and so hard against her cancer, and yet it returned with other plans. when she hid behind the washer her first night home, i was worried she’d never open up to us. 6th grade me sat by the washer every day in hopes to gain her trust. little did i know she’d be the same cat years later to sit on my homework, on my lap in the bathroom, or be the star of my senior photos. she knew my schedule so well she’d be ready and waiting for me after each school day to tell me every little detail about hers. our sing alongs, cuddles, hugs, and kisses will sit so so close to my heart. she loved me like i was her only one and i can’t help but feel a little lost without her. love like eggy bc at the end of the day, cuddles, staring contests, and tummy rubs become a memory. i am so proud to have been her mother, and to be be her daughter just the same. to ygritte, shall we meet in every lifetime. i love you.
