The best feeling in the world is knowing that God put you right where you are meant to be. This team is certainly something special. Even though this was not the freshman year I had anticipated, it doesn’t make me any less grateful. This year has taught me that gratitude is one of the most powerful things. I’ve learned to be totally absorbed in each and every moment because it’s a privilege to be surrounded with people like these. It’s taught me to appreciate each time I lift my arm up and give someone a two handed high five because those were things that I prayed so hard to get to be able to do. This year has tested me in a lot of ways, but it has also enlarged my capacity to be thankful for every moment. I’ve realized that if you surrender control of the circumstances you’re facing to the Lord, you will gain presence and unlock a mindset of gratitude. God has also taught me through this season that joy is possible even when difficult situations arise, even in the midst of hard times, it is the very strength that gets you through those moments. I cannot be more full of gratitude and joy for each experience, moment, and memory that this season has brought me. I’m so thankful for THIS team.

This week we’re joined by Addi Doan, an incoming freshman at Texas Woman’s University! Despite having limited level 10 experience, a major concussion, and having a D1 scholarship pulled after an injury, Addi never gave up. Now, she’s found her home at TWU.

Her journey is proof that grit, resilience, and heart matter just as much as your competition resume.

so incredibly grateful for the muscle I’ve continued to build in my left shoulder and for the best dad! it’s been difficult to find PT exercises that only involve one arm, but thankfully I’m blessed with an invested medical team at TWU that have created a well thought out plan for me. this is just the beginning of the light at the end of the tunnel of my comeback journey! there is purpose in the midst of trials and there is a reason the road is long! all in His glory! by @addisyndgym

Having a 3rd surgery in 2 years is not the outcome I had anticipated, nor the plan I had envisioned. I know that maybe not understanding is exactly what will grow my faith in the Lord. As someone once said, “Jesus had all the answers, and He still wept.” So I’m giving all my questions to God and trusting Him to carry the reasons.
I’ve decided to look beyond the storm of this trial and focus on what I know God has in store for me. I may not know exactly what that entails, but I have faith that He will work all things together for good.
To be joyful in the midst of obstacles, you need patience. Patience is having an intolerance for the circumstances that try to steal your joy. It builds the strength and courage to simply be held by God and surrender the things you cannot control to Him.
There is something to be accomplished in the midst of trials. I know God is going to use this pain for His glory, and I find comfort in that.
This surgery has been, hands down, the hardest one I’ve had so far. I have never experienced pain quite like this. Last night was a battle, but the one thing that brought peace was knowing I could simply be held by the Lord. There was nothing I could do except sit in His presence and let His peace wash over me. That’s a moment I’ll never forget. I don’t think I’ve ever felt closer to God than I did in that moment.
I am also incredibly blessed and grateful for the many prayers from my family, teammates, friends,and coaches. I am truly surrounded by the very best.

All that being said, I will be back. I will keep fighting. And now I officially have two bionic arms. by @addisyndgym
