Y’all can celebrate America, I’ll just be over here celebrating the bestie’s birthday.

@jamonsoul thank you for being one of the most soulful people I’ve ever encountered. For weathering the storms with me. For staying present and patient. For learning side by side how to transition to a life long friendship where love is the most unconditional it could ever be.

It’s been a long time since I’ve spent my older brother’s bday with him in real life.

I’ve been working from his office the last couple days and seeing the reasons why he is so good at what he does and why he was able to start his own firm (shout out to @thexcrosses ).

Additionally, I am forever grateful for his encouragement and support of @samiiyxhh as she moves through the next chapter of her young adult life. Definitely so much of the reason why she is where she is. (Shout out to AUP and Paris!). Definitely an amazing uncle to both my kids.

From July 9th to Aug 26th we are the same age, so cheers to being a year-ish older again, and back to bossing me around. 🤗

Chapter 47.

On this birthday my wishes have turned to prayer. (Mis)Information has become abundant, sorting through the messaging, exhausting. No matter what the headlines, we know people, both near and far are suffering. Stop with me for a sec. Celebrate me with thought, please. Let’s think about our family, friends and neighbors, that person you don’t know but they can use a kind word, and the people that might be a little more difficult to like. Let’s virtually hold hands and pray for them ALL (in whatever form of spiritually comfortable for you).

47 years of blessings and breath. 18 years of motherhood (the greatest of all blessings). Clarity, peace, and drive is what I’m channeling on this next rotation.

Why this image? I’ve loved this book for as long as I can remember. Read it over and over until the golden spine became paper dust. As a little thing reading it, laughing at Grover’s silly a$$, I had no idea this would become guidance. A reminder that I’m the monster. I’m creating the problem. (You gotta read the book) It took me a lifetime of experiences, therapy, and just listening to myself to understand this very basic concept.

I didn’t plan the bachelorette—I am the bachelorette 😈

Tulum was hot but I was hotter. My girls really understood the assignment: keep the drinks coming, the compliments louder, and the drama minimal (we tried).

This trip had it all: melanin, mezcal, and main character moments. If you missed it… don’t worry, I didn’t.

Future wifey status: activated. Respectfully, the bride has entered her villain era.
