LIFE IS BETTER AT SEA

Currently onboard Celebrity Solstice on an 18 night cruise from Honolulu to Auckland.

We’ve crossed the equator and then crossed the international dateline where we lost Saturday 10 Oct 😵‍💫😵‍💫.

Excited to hit SUVA Fiji tomorrow (13 Oct) for the very first time.

🐋💙 PAPEETE, TAHITI 🇵🇫 — An encounter never to be forgotten! 🌊✨

Arriving in paradise aboard the beautiful Celebrity Solstice 🚢 and then venturing out with @eleutheratahitidivingcenter to have the extraordinary privilege of swimming in the ocean with magnificent humpback whales during their breeding and birthing season. To be in the water with these gentle giants, witnessing their incredible size, grace and quiet presence in their natural environment, is truly beyond words. 💙🐋

But what makes this experience even more magical is what happens beneath the surface… the haunting, otherworldly sounds of the whales singing through the ocean. 🎶🌊

Humpback whales produce an extraordinary range of sounds — deep moans, haunting cries, grunts, clicks and complex, melodic songs that travel incredible distances underwater. During breeding season, male humpbacks sing elaborate songs, repeating patterns and changing melodies for hours. Scientists believe these songs play an important role in reproduction and communication, although their exact purpose remains a mystery.

And during this special season, Tahiti’s warm waters become a sanctuary for these incredible creatures as they mate, give birth and nurture their newborn calves. Mothers and babies also communicate through softer social calls, helping them stay connected in the vast blue ocean. Imagine hearing those mysterious sounds echoing through the water, surrounded by a world we can barely begin to understand. 🥹💙

There is something deeply humbling about sharing the ocean with an animal so enormous, intelligent and graceful. For a few precious moments, the world above disappears, time seems to stand still, and you realise just how extraordinary our planet really is. by @aderobertsdotcom
