Not every step forward has to be at full speed.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is slow down, take a breath, and regroup before getting back after it.

Check on your partners. Send the text. Make the call. Invite them for a run, a workout, a coffee, or a day at the beach. You don’t always need the right words—sometimes just showing up is enough.

We spend so much time answering everyone else’s calls for help that we forget to answer our own.

Take the break when you need it. Regroup. Then keep moving.

Sometimes the mission changes.

After exhausting every avenue, we were unable to secure the necessary permit approval in time to safely and properly host The Intrepid on July 22.

As a result, this event has been POSTPONED.

While this is disappointing, ADHUC IBI has always been about doing things the right way—not just doing them. We’d rather postpone an opportunity than compromise the experience, safety, or standards we’ve set for our community.

To everyone who shared the event, planned to compete, offered to volunteer, or simply believed in what we’re building—thank you. Your support hasn’t gone unnoticed, and it only motivates us to come back with something even better.

This isn’t the end of The Intrepid.

It’s simply another reminder that worthwhile things take time to build.

We’ll be back.

ADHUC IBI × WRECKINROOMNYC presents The Intrepid—a functional fitness challenge built for those willing to step outside their comfort zone.

This isn’t about being the strongest athlete in the field. It’s about showing up, embracing the challenge, and discovering what you’re capable of when you refuse to quit.

Whether you’re EMS, Fire, Law Enforcement, Military, healthcare, or simply someone looking to test your limits, this event is for you.

Some lessons aren’t taught with words.

They’re taught through early mornings, long shifts, missed sleep, sacrifices nobody sees, and a quiet commitment to being there when it matters most.

To the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, father figures, and the men who chose to lead by example—thank you.

Thank you for showing us what hard work looks like. What responsibility looks like. What love looks like when it’s backed by action.

The older we get, the more we realize how much was carried for us before we could carry it ourselves.

Today we celebrate the men who kept showing up, even when it wasn’t easy.
