My client wrote a short story about the Grim Reaper’s day off and this was my version of it. Being calm but still trying to cram a bunch of things we enjoy into a single day because we don’t know when we will have that chance again. I think everyone can relate.

This tattoo was done over 2 sessions and a lot of it is healed. I think it’s one of my favorite tattoos I’ve ever done. Should I turn it into a print or a t shirt? taken in Park Slope by @adrianahallow

It’s all bout the estrogen levels!
.
It turns out, you are less susceptible to pain when you’re ovulating because Estrogen is a naturally painkiller!
.
When estrogen levels are at their highest, a.k.a. when you’re ovulating, your body responds more potently to pain, releasing extra endorphins that interfere with pain receptors in the brain.
.
Additionally when you’re stressed (like when getting tattooed), levels of the hormone cortisol rise. Cortisol a.k.a. The Stress Hormone responsible for your Fight or Flight response, causes a rapid rise in blood pressure, which can lead to excess bleeding and pain after a while when you’re getting tattooed. But estrogen naturally fights the effects of cortisol!
.
Pain sensitivity increases when your levels of estrogen drop and progesterone levels rise, a.k.a. Right Before your period, possibly because less “feel good” hormones are produces during this part of the mentrual cycle.
.
So go ahead and schedule your next tattoo appointment for when you’re ovulating. You will have a much easier time getting through the pain.

Lexa Kom Trikru from @thecw series The 100 @cw_the100 based on @kassmorganbooks and played by the amazing @alyciajasmin

2 months of hard work to debut this cosplay at @newyorkcomiccon I romanticized using all found & second hand materials… quickly realized it would have been way too expensive, so I decided to make the coat and accessories from scratch instead also to achieve a better level of accuracy for this replica.
.
Hacked the jeans, top, sweater and boot covers. Then made everything else with materials from @moodfabrics @pacifictrimming and Eva foam from @wardrobesupply
.
First time sewing a complex garment like this coat that I made out of denim for the distress capabilities and breathability (cons get HOT 🥵) Glad to report it really worked although I had to ditch the sweater layer 😅 but you can’t really tell. First time making a corset and using belt buckles.
.
For the shoulder armour it was my first time really worked with EVA foam and contact cement and I made a bustle for the cape so I could walk around the con without getting stepped on.
.
I wanted this cosplay to be as accurate as possible but also really wearable and durable. I really wanted to feel like what Lexa would have worn. It was also my first time distressing and weathering. A lot of the details in person don’t photograph as well but it’s okay.
.
Also found out about and will be attending @conageddon next year and can’t wait to meet @marieavgeropoulos who everyone thought I was dressed up as as Octavia 😅 how embarrassing for them 😜

Does anyone else experience this? I’ve been getting so many of these lately. You know that saying that fixing someone else’s mistake is harder that just having done it well the first time… this is what it feels like. And ultimately that client is unintentionally setting themselves up to be possibly disappointed.
.
Just want to be clear that I’m not shaming clients for doing what they need to do to communicate what they want.
.
I want to focus more on the fact that we absolutely do not need these images to understand what you are asking for. You may be thinking it’s making our job easier but it’s actually just complicating the process. I’d rather you dm me the prompt. by @adrianahallow

The tattoo from my guest spot at @edenbodyartstudios. I had such a great time hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones. I’m planning to come back in the spring when the weather is not 🥵 and more 🌿.
.
This tattoo was a challenge because I had never done anything tribalesque, but I still wanted my style to come through incorporating some filigree. My client originally wanted me to rework the black and grey piece on her forearm to add color. I don’t think color layers well on black and grey so I suggested to add to it instead, to which she decided to make it a sleeve. We did consecutive 3 days on this piece that combines 3 of the places that she lives most: Washington, Colorado and Hawaii. This in itself wasn’t easy to make these 3 aesthetics blend seamlessly.
.
I decided to do mount Rainer for washington, lupine flowers for Colorado and hibiscus flowers for Hawaii. Framed by shapes that echoed the tribal tattoo she had on her forearm. I’d love to do more like these next year! taken in Eden Body Art Studios by @adrianahallow
