The wonderful folks at @cooparomasdelvalle are partnering with @thechaincollaborative to create more opportunities for women and build a more inclusive and equitable future within their community through an origin driven initiative called Mestiza.

Aromas del Valle is a community-led cooperative in northern Peru made up of around 600 coffee-producing families. Through Mestiza, they’re working to increase women’s participation and decision-making within the cooperative and their households, while working toward a community library that will serve women, children, and families through education, recreation, and connection.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll find Aromas del Valle popping up at some of our favorite spots around Knoxville as drip coffee, espresso, and more. For every bag of Aromas del Valle purchased through our website, we’ll donate 25% of the sale directly to the fundraiser set up by The Chain Collaborative.

We’ll be sharing more soon about Mestiza/Aromas del Valle, The Chain Collaborative, the participating shops, the fundraiser, and all the ways you can get involved.

We’re really excited to support something meaningful at origin!

Just wanted to make a little @potchke appreciation post. 🫶🌀

We’re lucky to work with cafés, restaurants, and delis that we genuinely love, and Knoxville is lucky to have people like the team at Potchke.

Our collaboration on their house espresso, The Fuss, is one of our favorite projects we’ve ever done. Right now it’s a blend of coffees from Guatemala, El Salvador, and India, creating a sweet, vibrant espresso that pairs perfectly with all of the incredible food and drinks coming out of Potchke every day. taken in Potchke by @adrift.coffee

When I started Adrift, I spent a long time trying to figure out what I wanted it to be. As a serial side-quester and someone who has always tried to chase the things that make me fall in love with being alive, creating something that reflected those sentiments felt like the most honest approach.
Like most people in their twenties, I wrestled with cynicism and hopelessness, only to be stopped in my tracks by the smallest things. Bugs, flowers, colors, songs. Little reminders that there was still beauty in a world I often wanted to run away from.
I want Adrift to be about coffee, of course, but mostly about the moments, feelings, and people that surround it. Coffee is just the conduit. I take it very seriously, but it’s only as important as the people you share it with and the things it inspires or accompanies.
More than anything, I hope our coffee helps you slow down, notice something beautiful, and feel a little more alive.

Summer is almost here, and life is in bloom!

Over the coming weeks, you’ll start seeing some wonderful new single-origin coffees popping up around Knoxville. Each one is a little different, but they all remind me of summer in their own way—sweet, bright, vibrant, and full of complexity. Like the season itself, each coffee has its own character and beauty worth slowing down to appreciate. This time of year always brings me back to the ideas that inspired Adrift in the first place. When I see butterfly milkweed, purple coneflowers, and all the small signs of life that emerge each summer, I’m reminded how important it is to carve out space in our days for taking a pause. Maybe that’s brewing a cup of coffee before the world wakes up. Maybe it’s stopping to watch critters climb between flowers for a few minutes. It reminds me that seasons change. Things bloom, fade, and bloom again. Through it all, we persist.

Some of our single origin coffees are labeled “Best As: Espresso,” but that does not mean espresso is the only way to enjoy them.

It simply means we roasted that coffee with espresso in mind. We give it a touch more development to bring out more sweetness, soften the acidity, and help it pair beautifully with milk while still keeping the nuance and character of a single origin coffee.

These coffees are great for espresso, moka pot, AeroPress, French press, and Clever Dripper. But you can absolutely brew them as pour over or drip too.

Think of “Best As” as a friendly suggestion, not a rule. We’re just pointing you toward the brew method where we think that coffee shines brightest.

At first glance this probably just looks like a giant pile of burlap, but inside these bags are some really beautiful coffees that have finally made their way to our little roastery. I’m genuinely so excited about this lineup of single origins.

A few of these coffees are tied to some really special projects and collaborations we’ll be sharing more about soon, and every one of them has its own personality, story, and character. Getting to taste through coffees like these and share them with y’all is honestly one of my favorite parts of what we do.

More details soon. I seriously can’t wait for you all to try these.

Heading into year two is wild. The growth we’ve experienced has been truly humbling, and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped make it possible.

As I’ve built this cozy little roastery and watched it grow and stretch beyond what I imagined, it’s become so clear that it has taken a village to get here. Thank you sincerely to every person who has supported, encouraged, collaborated with, and believed in us along the way.
