Inspired by the beauty of the Colorado landscape, the Sonders Learning Center was designed to be so much more than a beautiful building. It’s a place to gather, learn, play, connect and discover new possibilities at every stage of life.

From its soaring wood ceilings and abundant natural light to its playful spaces, nature-inspired colors and thoughtfully selected materials, every detail was considered to create an environment that feels welcoming, inspiring and distinctly Colorado.

But the real beauty goes beyond what you see.

Thoughtful accessibility is seamlessly integrated into the design. Sustainable materials support healthier indoor environments. Flexible, comfortable gathering spaces encourage connection, curiosity and a sense of belonging.

On this Mother’s Day, I truly could not be happier to share this little preview of the day that fills my heart beyond words. These are just a few preliminary images from my son’s wedding, and already they capture the beauty, tenderness, and joy of two incredibly talented souls I am so deeply proud of, one of whom I have the blessing of calling my son.

Watching them together after 15 years of loving, supporting, and nurturing one another was absolutely extraordinary. Their vows were the most heartfelt and beautiful words I have ever heard spoken. The depth of their love filled every moment of the day.

My heart is overflowing with gratitude and honor in welcoming Kat into our family, along with the continuing deep appreciation for the loving relationship I share with my son. The wedding day was pure magic, and I cannot wait to see the full image collection from such a breathtaking and unforgettable celebration.

As we pack to leave Venice tomorrow morning, I can’t help but to recognize that I have never seen such tranquil beauty in any city. I was here in the 80’s, but something has changed. Venice moves in a rare harmony of grace, art, culture and soul. Here, culture is not displayed but lived. The young walk beside and practice history with reverence, carrying forward the beauty of both what has been and what is becoming. The streets are clean, the people light of spirit, and the shops bright with color, character, and delight, lacking a sense of competition.

There is something noble in the way people value one another here, pausing to speak, to know you, to share the small wealth of a moment.

The golden hours of sunrise and sunset arrive like a blessing, filling stone and water with peace, wonder, and light.

This project means so much to me. Rebuilding after the Marshall Fire is not just about putting a house back together. It was a much quieter experience. It was more like a returning and a re-grounding. A chance to create a place that truly supports life again, but in a way that feels softer, more intentional.

There is a gentleness to this home. You feel it in the light, in the materials, in the way the spaces open up to one another. Nothing is overdone. Nothing is trying too hard. It feels like their home has always been this way, as if it came together slowly over time, gathered from travels, from memories, from things that matter.

The team we used was amazing. Skilled craftsmen and artists, each bringing a level of thoughtfulness and intuition that you can feel in the finished space. There was an ease to the collaboration and the communication. That alignment is rare, and when it happens, it carries through everything.

The home itself was rebuilt to mirror what was lost. The same bones. But the interior became something new. An opening into their new lives.

The clients had made initial finish selections, then invited us in. From there, we carried forward and the process unfolded in a way that felt natural, like it was guided.

One of the most touching things the clients have shared us is that when they return home from being away, they sometimes expect to walk back into their old home, the way it was. And instead, they pause and praise that I became something larger than their dreams, a space to continually move into and become.

And somehow, even more theirs.

That stays with me.

Gratitude feels like the only appropriate response. For the trust. For the team. For the opportunity to be part of something that carries both loss and beauty so closely together.

This is the kind of work that lingers.
