I originally thought it was just a normal sharing session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

#SoloMotorcycleJourneyMalaysiaToTheUK

But I was surprised to see members of the management team from Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Malaysia — Mr. Loh, Tim and John — there, along with Mr. Uchiyama from Yamaha Motor Japan.

They didn’t just show up briefly.

They stayed and listened to my full one-hour sharing.

At many corporate events, senior management usually appears briefly for a photo before leaving.

But that day, I truly felt how deeply Yamaha Malaysia supports rider culture.

Mr. DDJK, Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Bhd, was also present, along with the people who have supported me from the very beginning — Lee Chan Wei, Suk Man and Juyen.

Yamaha Malaysia has supported my journey in ways I never expected.

In the middle of my trip, they helped connect me with Yamaha service centers across different countries and continents. I simply had to ride my bike there, and the support was ready when I arrived.

Yamaha Malaysia is not just a motorcycle company that sells bikes.

It is a company that supports riders when they need help.

⸻

My intention at the beginning was very simple.

Just to buy a motorcycle I truly love — the Yamaha Ténéré 700 — and ride from Malaysia all the way to the UK.

For the joy of riding and the thrill of adventure, I chose some of the most difficult terrains and remote villages I could find.

I never expected that something as simple as riding a motorcycle would evolve into something like this.

But it also reminded me of something important:

Staying true to your original intention matters.

⸻

The next journey?

Argentina to Alaska.

One man. One bike. One dream — crossing an entire continent once again.

Life always has its limitations, and I don’t know when this will happen.

But after this Malaysia-to-UK journey, I know one thing for sure:

My next ride will be about seeking even more extreme challenges and deeper experiences. taken in Hong Leong Yamaha by @advbing

This visit to Yamaha Europe HQ 🇳🇱 was made possible thanks to the amazing support from Yamaha Malaysia — especially DDJK, Lee Chan Wee & Juyen.

Although the Netherlands wasn’t on my original route, this rare opportunity came together in just a few days. I received a very warm welcome from Yamaha Europe, including the marketing & product teams, and even had lunch with the CEO to share my Asia–Europe journey and real-world feedback on the Tenere 700.

The Tenere, mainly developed by the European team, has proven to be incredibly reliable on my long-distance, low-budget ride (~€750/month). Being able to speak directly with the engineers, tour their private museum, and have my bike serviced was truly special.

Huge thanks to Yamaha Malaysia for making this possible, and thank you to Yamaha Europe for the warm hospitality. 🙏 taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @advbing

15 days, 2,000 km around Taiwan by motorcycle — completed.

I did this trip once 10 years ago.

Back then, I rode a 125cc with two of my middle school friends. Everything felt exciting and new. We rode into the mountains of Nantou, camped by the coast in Taitung, and simply enjoyed exploring.

This time, I was riding my Ténéré 700.

But honestly, it felt much less exciting.

I’ve already ridden most of Taiwan’s famous roads — the North Cross-Island Highway, Central Cross-Island Highway, Suhua Highway, Wuling, and so on.

So this time, I deliberately looked for something different: forest roads, sandy terrain, coastal camping in Pingtung, and remote mountain areas in Yilan.

I think Taiwan is a place you should ride around when you’re young.

The same place can feel completely different at different stages of your life.

Pingtung was probably my favorite part of this trip. It still has a strong rural feeling, which I really enjoy.

Taiwan’s scenery changes quickly, but the country is also densely populated and extremely easy to resupply. For riders looking for serious challenges, there simply isn’t that much difficulty.

But Taiwan has incredible food, so a motorcycle trip here can easily turn into a food trip.

Compared with Europe, India, or Turkey, where the landscapes are vast, dramatic, and relatively untouched, Taiwan feels much more compact and developed.

The roads are excellent, the scenery changes quickly, and most forest roads are short dead ends rather than routes that cross the mountains.

In my opinion, Taiwan has only a few truly world-class landscapes:

The Suhua Highway and Qingshui Cliff on the east coast.
Taroko Gorge.
And the mountains around Wuling, where you can see for dozens of kilometers.

Those three places, in my opinion, can genuinely compete with scenery anywhere in the world. taken in Taiwan by @advbing

How to self rescue a 200kg adv in desert?
1. Rotate the bike to a angle that front wheel point sideways
You can use the advantage of slope and use less strength to lift
2. Lift
3. Move handlebar and give a throttle taken in Malaysia by @advbing
