Saturday I visited Wagner Falls and Christmas, MI before taking the Pictured Rocks Cruise on Lake Superior. Spectacular views of the rocks. Lake Superior is massive, bigger than all the other Great Lakes combined. It was windy and cold but worth it. Went to Marquette for dinner with Ellyn and had a dark scary drive back to Munising. Back to the big city today. by @adventure_carol

The Upper Peninsula is beautiful! Fall colors, waterfalls, Lake Superior, Miners Castle & crazy wind. Frost warning tonight. I hope it warms up in time for my boat cruise tomorrow. Visiting here was also on my 26 for 2026 list by @adventure_carol

Back to Michigan for less than 24 hours. I got a sunburn and Michigan got a big win. Michigan basketball 🏀 champs were at the game for an added bonus! by @adventure_carol

Neighbor Day at Wrigley Field. One of my favorite events-run around the field, have a hot dog and take lots of fun photos. I miss the days when we could run the bases, pitch from the mound and picnic on the field but it’s still a great event! #gocubsgo⚾️ by @adventure_carol

Quick trip to Michigan to celebrate Sarah & Owen! So much fun I barely took any photos but here are a few. Flowers survived the drive back to Chicago and I had to include a photo of some creative tree trimming in my hometown. by @adventure_carol

Today’s project with my Madagascar vanilla beans. Vanilla extract: two gift bottles and one with bourbon for me. The beans were too tall for the bottles so I cut off the tips and made some vanilla sugar with those. by @adventure_carol

Banana Ball at Wrigley Field. What a fun afternoon watching the Savannah Bananas vs the Firefighters! The players, the music, the Mananas + Kerry Wood & David Ross! Thanks @amykisawesome @dextermydude @everyday.everett and @catsnstuff for coming along! by @adventure_carol

Ed Sheeran at Soldier Field on a beautiful, chilly night with @amykisawesome. He creates all the background tracks live with “loop” technology and plays them with foot pedals. I really enjoyed the show & unexpected pyrotechnics with the Chicago skyline backdrop. by @adventure_carol

Vanilla bean project 2: vanilla, rhubarb & ginger scones. An old favorite that lets me use my CSA from @mickklugfarms and my stash of candied ginger from @lsqspice by @adventure_carol

Vanilla Bean Project 1, vanilla ice cream, is winner. I went with the OG, plain vanilla, but I did give myself a little topper! by @adventure_carol

We finished our last few days at Ankarafantsika Park and then arrived in Tana last night. Our last park included lemurs, a canyon, a boat ride looking for crocodiles, a night walk (spiders of nightmares) & ended with the lodge making me a birthday cake! Last night, we made one final vanilla stop & in a few hours we begin the long journey home. Fantastic trip! by @adventure_carol
