New Year, New Me ✨

My Top Three New Year’s Resolutions:

1. Conquer my separation anxiety. While I’m “Adventure Bread” on Instagram, I’m trying to learn that not every grocery store trip is an adventure that I *must* be on, and maybe, just on the rare occasion, my parents want a little date night without me (they had their 7th anniversary dinner in a dog-friendly food court because of me).

2. Quit my sled dog mentality. Fun fact: my parents are SLOW, even Dad with his long legs and Mom being a “fast walker for a short person” - I have to be compassionate towards my aging, slow-poke parents and walk beside them at their pace like the sweet perfect angel that I am deep inside.

3. Be more polite and courteous AKA a properly socialized dog. I stopped jumping up on Every Single Human That Makes Eye Contact With Me*, but now I’m trying to learn that not every dog wants to play, have their eyeball licked, or their face swatted at. And when a dog is barking and lunging at me - they’re not initiating play with me, they probably want to eat me (and Mom, probably).

I’m working through all of these with the help of my parents’ trainer, @okami_canine and of course my parents who love me to bits. 🥰

Second Birthday Recap 🎂 (2026.10.04)

And just like that, I’m TWO years old!

The Parents took me back to the same @sniffspots that we went to for my first birthday, and I was SO EXCITED once I realized where we were that I started scream-barking right outside the property. Once I chilled out a tiny bit, we went into the yard and I got to play fetch for almost two hours straight. The Parents kept offering me breaks, but I just wanted to keep going and going and going. It was even more fun once I realized that new types of toys could be found in the shed. 🤩

On our way home, we stopped by @ourharu_com and I was greeted by the sweet fluffy shop keeper, Haru. She was so sweet, but my parents put me in Air Jail because I was getting too excited and they didn’t want me to be feisty with Haru and be rewarded with a treat after. I got a puppuccino, as per the tradition of my birthdays and half birthdays. 🥰

When we got home, Mom cooked me up a rare steak. I kept looking around afterwards because at this point I figured out it was a special day for me, and wanted to know what else they were going to give me. I ended up begging for something Mom pulled out of the fridge but it was just broccoli. 😏

After a rest, the Parents started getting all excited for me again so I figured I should go to the door to see if one of my Aunties or Uncles was coming over (because what else could I be excited for?). No one was actually visiting but I did get a bag of treats + noisy toys that I was only allowed to play with for 10 seconds because it was almost 11pm at this point. ☹️

By the end of the night, I was toast. 🍞

I’m TWO today! People say that puppies chill out after 2-3 years… Judging by how today went, I think it’s going to be another year of chaos for me! 😇

July in Ottawa 🌻 (2026.07.23 - 2026.07.26)

We made a trip to Ottawa to spend some time with family and for some extra time with one of my Uncles before he left to live in Japan.

I was spoiled with daily games of fetch.

I pose for my Uncle but rather not for my parents. 😇

I got to RUN in an empty dog park, and performed a successful recall towards the end of the clip. Too bad Mom can’t catch me at the end of it though (parents need to work on that)!

I put a hole in Mom’s thumb while mouthing a ball. 🕳️ 👎

Do you think she’ll forgive me if I cuddle with her just like when I was a baby? 🥰

I scared a cat by just being present in the Ottawa Ornamental Garden.

Mom loves this picture of me because it reminds her of my character in Stardew Valley, back when my parents had a special shiba skin for the game and I was still a boy dog in their minds.

Hot Summer Days 🌞 (2026.07.10 - 2026.07.14)

…means the parents taking me to the Toronto Outdoor Art Festival in short spurts over of a span of 3 days to avoid Mom and me overheating. (And Dad constantly taking me to the misting station to cool off 🚿).

…supervising Mom watering the balcony garden. And also loafing around after she’s done (this was pre-smoke filled skies that we’re currently experiencing).

Bed Time 🛏️ (2026.06.16)

This was my first time on my parents’ bed in my 1 year and 8 months of life! 🤯

Dad in particular expressed his worry for my joints in case I decide to jump off (it’s a particularly high bed), but keeps putting me on there - even after explaining to Mom that they shouldn’t make it A Thing. Well, now it’s A Thing - and it’s his fault! 🥸  They’re hoping to get some stairs for me, but for now, they keep an eye on me while I’m there and I’ve learned to mostly politely ask to be lifted up.   Do your parents let you on their bed?

June Photo Dump (2026.06.01 - 2026.06.30)

I had a very exciting start to the month with the Grandparents visiting, which also meant a lot of car rides (still getting used to them) and Uncle Time! 😍 Here I am being a good posing for treats - I mean Mom - at a Peony Garden in Oshawa. 🌸

Neutrality Class #5 😎 (2026.05.31)

We’ve now attended five @okami_canine classes over the last year, and I’m starting to understand what’s expect of me. The first being: pulling super hard doesn’t get me places faster (though I will still try 😏). The second being: paying attention to my parents is key because, especially for these classes, they will bring out the best treats! I’ve also been even eating some of my kibble the last two classes, which is a surprise to my parents because they still struggle to get me to train for boring old kibble at home! Let’s just say that I like to keep them guessing. 🥸  I did pretty well walking down through lines of dogs, but I was more and more distracted as time passed. When we got to the Bonfire Drill (pictured above), I locked back in. 👀

At these classes I am exposed to (but not meeting and greeting) a lot of dogs without the expectation of play. This is important to my parents because now that the weather is better, walking around downtown is a bit of a minefield for them with a surprising amount of off-leash doggos running about and sometimes trying to initiate play with me. When this happens, I usually turn into a little maniac and lose any willingness to listen, so teaching me to be more neutral around other dogs is important. Their hope is that one day I’ll be able to play politely with other dogs at an appropriate time, instead of going bonkers in the middle of downtown sidewalks while twenty people are trying to pass by. 🤪🥳
