Floral Strawberry Shortcake Dress 💐🍓

I love this dress pattern, and I am certain I’ll make it at least a couple of times more in the future (I already have two)!

I was super lucky and found this fabric at a local studio clean out sale hosted by @freoncollective, and it was only $15 for about 4m. And since I hate making toiles, this was perfect fabric that I wouldn’t feel too precious about in case I made mistakes (though, in actuality, I would feel bad… but I would feel less bad, you know?).

For the size of the dress, I ended up sizing down as some of the reviews I’ve seen for the dress say that it’s quite roomy. The pattern itself is quite forgiving because of the elastic channels that you can cut to whatever size fits your body.

I love how it turned out! My only gripe is that you don’t really appreciate the split at the bust - at least the way it fits me - because it gets kind of hidden by the fabric. I also didn’t do a great job at sewing the turned straps as it came out very thin/uneven due to my (lack of) skills. Next time, I think I’ll make bias tape straps instead and maybe tack on where the straps sit on the bodice so I’m not adjusting it throughout the day.

Bread loves her matching bandana. 🥰

Make: Strawberry Shortcake Dress - View B
Pattern Designer: @sewbakemake
Fabric: 3-4m of Forever Summer by Olivia Gibbs Cotton Fabric, found at a studio sale
Date Finished: March 2026
Other Notes: Shortened the dress as per usual. Made both front and back panels the less wide option of the skirt panel because my fabric wasn’t wide enough.

Matching Bandanas for Bread 🍞💗

I’m too lazy to gather all the pictures of Bread wearing her bandanas, but you can see some on her Instagram: @adventurebread. 🥰

She now has seven(!!) matching bandanas that were mostly made with leftover fabric from my dresses, and two crocheted ones for winter. ❄️

Make: Matching Bandanas for Bread
Pattern Designer: Drafted based on a bandana she got for Christmas from her Nana.
Fabric: Mostly leftover fabric from my various dresses!
Date Finished: March 2026

I’m getting a little more comfortable with sewing at this point and wanted to try a few hacks to make my second Syd Tie Dress a little different than my first.

This time around I added shortened sleeves (which Sydney has a tutorial for on her YT channel), thicker ties for the bows (which took a bit of trial and error because, as it turns out, when you make ties thicker you also need to make it longer so you’re able to tie them), and modified the skirt to be fuller with only one tier.

The fabric is from my fave, @blackbirdfabrics, but I definitely chose it without thinking about how the colour and pattern would look on me - it’s definitely very LOUD and BRIGHT for my usual taste. 😅

Overall, I like the dress but the weight of the fabric combined with the super full gathered skirt is quite heavy on me. It’s also quite a boxy fit, which my mom immediately described as “TOO WIDE!!” when she saw it on me… 😬

I do wear this fairly often even though it’s a bit of a statement dress. 💖

Make: Syd Tie Dress - Heavily Modded
Pattern Designer: @hisydgraham
Fabric: 3m @blackbirdfabrics Check Soft Wash Linen in Dragonfruit
Date Finished: February 2026
Other Notes: Used the short sleeve hack on @hisydgraham’s YouTube. Modified the ties to be thicker and slightly longer (3” thick x 14” long). Eliminated the second tier of the skirt and made the main tier approximately 2.5x the width of the bodice (perhaps a bit too much for the thickness/weight of the fabric).

My first of (most likely) many Bestie Bags! ♥️

The hardest part of making this Bestie Bag was finding the perfect fabric and coordinating zippers. I’m so lucky to live in Toronto and close to the Fashion District - but that doesn’t stop me from being extremely picky about the material I wanted to use for my first Bestie Bag.

I ended up finding this perfect red corduroy fabric from Affordable Textiles. The only thing is, I had to wash + soak + rinse it literally nine times before I gave up trying to get rid of the red bleed. In the process, I accidentally (and then knowingly) dyed some of Bread’s paw wash cloths pink. 😵‍💫

The zipper and inside fabric also required a fair few trips to different stores to find. Weirdly, I couldn’t find a matching red zipper so I opted for a white one with gold teeth, and a special zipper pull (at first I was going to settle for the tan one pictured).

Sewing was it quite straightforward, minus some of the top stitching in some areas that my machine couldn’t handle.

Of course I had to take a photo with Bread, for scale! This bag is actually perfect to bring on walks with her because I can fit all my necessities plus a water bottle for her.

Make: Bestie Bag - Medium Size
Pattern Designer: @bfpatterns
Fabric: 1m red corduroy, 1m floral cotton, 1m interfacing
Date Finished: Dember 2025
Other Notes: Replaced the large inside pocket with a zippered pocket.

Cozy Reading Nook 🌙

This illustration has been stuck in my head for a while! I wanted to create a warm and cozy reading space, with a bookshelf full little trinkets and treasures with lots of personal details. 🥰

I ended up being very self indulgent with some of the details - if you know me personally, you’ll know what I mean. I’ll save them for another post, but maybe you can spot them? ☺️

Swipe the last slide to watch my process! I clocked in just over 50 hours on the rendering alone (which doesn’t include the initial sketches and colour roughs 🫣).

The Spring @torontostationeryshow was this past Saturday and I wanted to thank all the lovely stationery lovers who braved the rain and cold to stand in the hours-long line! I am once again blown away by the dedication of the this community and amazed that you sold me out of several of my newest designs. 🤯

Making work that resonates with others is something I find incredibly fulfilling, and while I’m vending at the Toronto Stationery Show is when I feel like I’ve found “my people”. 🥹

An extra thank you to the amazing organizers, Queenie and Andrea, the hardworking volunteers, @tendrilmakes for coming to help me out, and all my super talented fellow vendors! And of course to my partner and brother for shuttling me back and forth from the show and taking care of @adventurebread. 🥰

Christmas Treats 🎄

Is this illustration one month late, or eleven months early for the 2026 holiday season? Either way, I’m always bound to be working on portfolio pieces in the wrong season… but at least I got to pretend it’s still Christmas, and I’m celebrating with my family at home, filling myself full of tasty, sugary treats. ✨

I had a ton of fun creating this piece! Partly because mirroring cuts *some* of the detail work in half, but also because I enjoyed making some subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the two halves of the illustration. I think this would make an interesting puzzle! 🌝

Of course I couldn’t help but sneak in @adventurebread as a sugar cookie, and Haowie the chickadee as well - both of whom you may spot in many of my other illustrations.

Happy holiday season, eleven months in advance! 🤪

2025 was mostly dabbling in a few art markets, making sticker sheets, but best of all: raising my puppy, Bread. 🥰

Wishing everyone a bright 2026! 🌟
