An op-ed by Solveig Lucia Gold, a senior fellow at the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, and Joshua T. Katz, a senior fellow at the @aei:

Four years ago, the prevailing wisdom was that if you wanted to make six figures immediately after college graduation, you should consider studying computer science. Departments saw record enrollment, and universities started building centimillion-dollar complexes to accommodate the growth. Today, though, the bubble appears to have burst as artificial intelligence squeezes the entry-level jobs that once seemed so sure a thing.

College students, you should seize the opportunity to study whatever you want.

James Madison's core insight, according to AEI's (@AEI) Yuval Levin, is one worth sitting with all week: "disagreement is just a function of freedom in a free society." The goal was never unanimity, it was building a system sturdy enough to hold disagreement without falling apart.

This week @oxunipress published a new paperback edition of Why Congress by Philip Wallach.

In a moment where congressional initiative and capacity continues to erode, the book’s central thesis—that our constitutional system only works if we have a powerful deliberative legislature capable of representing and working through deep divisions—remains more relevant than ever.

Has the Strait of Hormuz become Iran's most powerful weapon?

@juliaioffe argues Iran left the war with more leverage, not less, having shown it can close the Strait and choke off a quarter of the world's oil and gas.

Danielle Pletka counters that no country absorbing 13,000 strikes comes out ahead, while conceding that there is no clear picture of what victory looks like, especially with the control of the Hormuz in question.

With the Strait still closed to normal traffic and a shipping deal now on the table, who is holding the stronger position? Tell us in the comments and watch the full debate at the link in our bio. by @aei

When it comes to student achievement, family structure matters just as much as poverty or race—and sometimes more so. šŸ“Š
In a new report from AEI and the Institute for Family Studies, researchers examine how household stability drives academic success. While the federal government’s gold-standard ā€œNation’s Report Cardā€ collects data on family structure, it doesn’t publicly report test scores by it. This critical omission trains educators, researchers, and journalists to overlook the home dynamics that fundamentally shape a child’s educational trajectory.
Swipe to explore what the data actually says about intact families and student thriving.

As the Supreme Court concludes its term, the questions explored during last week’s Summer Honors Program panel remain especially relevant.

Featuring John Yoo (AEI) and William A. Galston (Brookings Institution), with moderation by Ilya Somin (Cato Institute), the discussion examined the constitutional role of the executive branch, the evolution of the separation of powers, the competing visions of America’s Founders, and what the Court’s final decisions of the term could mean for the future.
