Last night at Carnegie Hall was everything ✨

Sphinx Virtuosi brought American Dialogues to New York as we began celebrating 30 years of Sphinx, with a hall full of music, community, and so much joy.

And one part of the night meant even more: 1,352 complimentary tickets helped welcome students, families, and community members into Carnegie Hall.

We’re deeply grateful to Gwen Lancaster, Susan Zohn, Douglas Love, Howard Hertz, Terry Woodward, and Jacqueline C. Washington for helping make that access possible.

What a way to begin this anniversary year 💛

Next stop: Ann Arbor.

What gets a leader through the toughest days?

For Sphinx President and Artistic Director Afa Dworkin, the answer comes back to community.

In a special conversation on Arts Engines, hosted by Sphinx Founder Aaron Dworkin, Afa reflects on the people, perspectives, and shared creativity that have helped Sphinx move through challenges for nearly 30 years.
As she shares, no obstacle has felt insurmountable because of the strength of the community Sphinx lovingly calls La Familia.

✨ A meaningful moment for the Sphinx Organization ✨

This week, the League of American Orchestras presented Sphinx with the Gold Baton Award, its highest honor for distinguished service to America’s orchestras.

Accepted by Afa S. Dworkin and Aaron P. Dworkin, this recognition reflects the artists, educators, alumni, supporters, partners, and communities who have helped shape Sphinx’s journey over the past three decades.

We are deeply grateful and honored to be part of this field’s continued evolution!

What was Sphinx doing in the 90s? 👀

Building a movement.

Founded in 1997, Sphinx began in Detroit with a bold idea: transform classical music by opening doors for the next generation of artists and leaders.

Now we’re celebrating 30 years.

This is just the beginning of the story.

Stay tuned for what’s coming.
