So I try to keep my content more funny (or at least staying on the topic of mountain biking) rather than touching on social or political issues. I mean shit, I don’t even have anything other than a mountain biking video to post this with, which feels inappropriate given the subject. But with what’s coming out of @cornelluniversity right now, it feels like something that more men should be talking about, whether it’s comfortable to or not.

First, Cornell’s statement addressing the allegations of gang rape by the Chi Phi fraternity members in 2024 is a fucking outrage. As the institution that allowed this to go largely unpunished, their refusal to even acknowledge their responsibility is mind boggling. Even more so, doubling down and claiming that they adequately punished these men is indicative of just how rampant of an issue this is within our institutions, whether it be college campuses, or, I don’t know, the White House for example. And just like the men involved, Cornell thought that it would be able get away with sweeping this under the rug to avoid the bad PR.

Second, when I was in college, I saw first hand what a combination of excessive alcohol consumption and ketamine does to a person (myself included). If you’ve ever seen someone in that state, you know that they have absolutely zero control over their mind & body, let alone having the agency to give consent in any context. Jane Doe was gang raped. Any claim to the contrary is validating the men involved to continue to do what they did.

Men have to talk about this more and have to acknowledge that our silence is perpetuating rape culture. Trust me, this doesn’t come from a place of comfort for anyone, but shying away from it and letting women be alone in their outrage is weak as fuck. We need to look out for the women in our lives that we care about, and just as importantly, we need to look out for women that are total strangers, too.

And we wonder why they pick the bear. by @afb.mtb

Fun times at @keystoneresort on closing day. Felt way safer with my @hayesbrakes Dominion A4 brakes. 😂

Bummed I only made it out here two times this season, but definitely coming back for the corkscrew next year.

These dirt taxes are getting out of hand. Sacrificed a helmet and my phone screen to Trestle DH today, but hey, I sent it just a bit more on Rainmaker and got to check out Hi-Lo. Probably gonna take it easy for a week or at least until the stitches are out of my chin.

Thanks for the hangs and rips @1tree_hugger ! Glad you were there when I ate shit 😂

Always the dumbest crashes that hurt the most haha. Took a dumb line and ended with a rock to the chin and had to get a few stitches + a mild concussion. Was able to ride out to the bottom mostly fine, though. Consider my dirt tax paid for Trestle tomorrow.

In other news, my @commencalusa Meta TR v4 build fucking rips. Big ups to the Commencal guys at their showroom in Golden for helping me get it finished.

Pretty stoked on the progress I’ve made with jumps over the past two years (tbh most of it was made in the past two months at @mightyargo Virginia Canyon 😂). Starting basically from square one in 2024, I did not think I’d be riding anything close to the stuff I’ve been hitting lately. Still a long way to go but man, Colorado has been pretty damn good to me as far as mountain biking goes haha.

And thank you @gopofeldy for getting the second clip! So crazy seeing myself actually hitting a jump.

Absolute ripper of a day at @keystoneresort bike park yesterday. So much steep tech and some really cool jump lines & wooden features, too. So bummed I’m just now getting out there a week before they close 🫠

Haven’t posted in a bit, mostly because I lost my camera in my disaster of a car. Anyway, here’s maybe my favorite section of Drop Shaft at VCMP.
