"These Airmen will develop specialized expertise in operating and integrating sensors, command and control, and layered defensive capabilities. They will work alongside Security Forces and other Air Force and joint mission partners to deliver coordinated and layered defense of installations.

Security Forces provide essential expertise in planning and executing integrated defense, while the new career field will add dedicated expertise to help integrate point defense capabilities into the broader defensive architecture.

“Our Security Forces Airmen have built a legacy of excellence in integrated defense,” Lt. Gen. Kenyon Bell, Air Force deputy chief of staff for logistics, engineering and force protection, said. “They understand how to bring capabilities together to protect our installations and keep the mission going. Point defense builds on that foundation, integrating our defenders with specialized point defense forces to create an even more effective, layered defense.”

To strengthen integration between the two career fields, a Security Forces Airman will serve as deputy career field manager for point defense, helping to align training, professional development and operational expertise across both communities."

Fly. Fix. Fight. This is our enduring purpose.

For the A4 Enterprise, the “Fix” is our domain.

From maintainers generating sorties on the flightline, civil engineers repairing runways under pressure, to defenders securing our power projection platforms, the “Fix” represents the fundamental, non-negotiable work our Airmen do to ensure the U.S. Air Force remains the most lethal and respected force in the world.

Air superiority doesn’t happen by accident. It is engineered, sustained, and protected every single day across the Enterprise.

Operating in Alaska requires more than traditional military skills. The state’s rugged terrain, unpredictable conditions and vast distances demand service members be prepared to move, communicate and operate effectively in some of the most challenging environments on earth.

The 673d Security Forces Squadron, based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, has found a way to address this issue. The Alaska Defense Sustainment Training, a week-long course developing Airmen's survival skills and helping them move and sustain operations in remote and austere conditions.

Today marks 25 years since our nation was forever changed. On this solemn day, we honor those who lost their lives in the attacks on our country and we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their fellow American.

Your courage will forever show us what it truly means to be an American. by @afdefenders

GRAYLING, Mich. – In the forest near Camp Grayling, Michigan, the rumble from a Humvee’s diesel engine slices through the darkness as it creeps down a dirt road, snapping tree branches under its tires.

Just off the road, hidden in the thick brush, a joint team of U.S. Army Green Berets and Air National Guard security forces Airmen sits motionless. No radio noise or words can be heard as the team waits for its target to breach an ambush site. In an instant, the silence is shattered by gunfire from the tree line, bringing the Humvee to a stop.

The tactical ambush was just one scenario for nearly 200 Air National Guard and a handful of Air Force Reserve and Active Duty Security Forces Airmen who descended upon northern Michigan for Exercise Sage Eagle 26-4, Aug. 3-14.
