FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALL MEDIA INQURIES: Ebony@epimediagroup.com

September 15, 2015

From the desk of Mr. Afemo Omilami
Chief Operating Officer of Hosea Helps
Award Winning Actor
Today marks the anniversary of one of the most tragic events within Civil Rights history, the bombing of the 16th St Baptist church, which killed the 4 little black girls in Birmingham, Alabama. This act of terror changed the country forever and removed the innocence from our eyes as it relates to the deep hatred some felt towards people with skin different from theirs. This tragedy sparked some of the most impactful civil rights movements of our time, which eventually changed our lives forever (i.e. Selma). This single devastating event marked such emotion for me that in 2013 my wife, Elisabeth Omilami and I decided to direct a play entitled “4 Little Girls”. It is our mission to ensure that the youth today do not forget the sacrifices made. It is important that our people know that the journey has just begun and we must continue to the finish line.
I continue my fight because I am eternally broken hearted by everything that’s happening today. A man should not go hungry. A man should be able to work. A man should not be homeless in this great country. He should be able to feel safe on our streets. So when I see this today, it continues to move something within me. I ask for each you to determine your cause; why do you choose to live? I found my truth in feeding the homeless and helping those less fortunate than me. What have you found? What are you doing to change the current world that we live in? What is your calling? What legacy will you leave behind? • Addie Mae Collins
• Cynthia Wesley
• Carole Robertson
