Back when I took a black and white film photography class at my community college. Back when I had my tiny afro. My tripod and me, sometimes out of focus, always exploring.

✨1 Year Anniversary of my short film “Village”. 🥹 [🌱 link in bio!]

🌀 On December 4th last year my amazing cast and crew gathered at the Greenbelt Campground in Maryland. It was freezing but we were all committed to get everything done in ONE day.

✨💭Y’all I remember driving to the campground that morning to begin production and I wanted to call everyone and tell them to go HOME. I wanted to go home and curl up in fetal position because I was so afraid to try and bring my vision to life, to direct a cast, to make a film which is something I had always dreamt of doing since my junior year in high school.

✨The film and the reception of it has been so healing for me. It’s not perfect y’all, but I’m so proud of what we made and the message. 🫶🏽

🎥 These are my 3 favorite scenes in the whole film!! That’s actually my grandmother in the first scene. At the lowest point of my life 2 years ago, when living felt unbearable, I got an unexpected phone call from my grandmother. Unlike the character in the film I hadn’t actually revealed to her or anyone that I was struggling but one day God put it on her spirit to call me. And she poured life into me y’all. These are just some of the words that she said. I ask her to this day if she remembers that phone call and she always says no 😂. But they are words, and a turning point in my life, that I will never forget.

✨ I was at such a low point. I had spent many years in a creative drought, feeling inadequate, & stuck in a cycle of comparison. A year later I got an internship in LA. Months later made this film and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. And 3 months after that made the move to LA to continue my dreams. Those words she poured into me inspired this entire film and was a gift I wanted to share with others who felt behind, lost and aimless in life. 🌅

Sunday Self-portrait Series ✨💗🌻

✨💭I've been waking up at 3am everyday from feelings of anxiety and loneliness. Anxiety about my loneliness. I've been budgeting too. I've been listening to @dr.thema podcast in the mornings for strength and wisdom and healing. I've been playing with make-up and developing my own personal style and it's been so damn fun.

💭 I've been dreaming and starting to believe again that the woman I want to grow into is within my reach. I've been up and I've been down. I've been desperately seeking love in the wrong places. I've been working at an organization that is full of love and wisdom and laughter and warmth, a place where my coworkers eyes light up when they see me and me them and I know how lucky I am because of how rare that is.

💭I've been feeling so damn sexy in my skin, 28 is the sexiest I have ever felt in my body and I'm gonna flaunt it all while I got it (aka you gon see these crop tops). I've also been struggling, not wanting to be earthside sometimes, 28 is probably the most I've ever felt that way. But I'm here and I'm gonna keep moving forward. I'm gonna cry it out and laugh it out and continue to shine my light on the world. 😘

Solo trip to San Diego ✨

This song has gifted me so much peace lately. I got a chance to visit my favorite beach and I had all of it to myself. As I was leaving the sun was beginning to set and there were such beautiful pink tones in the clouds that I had to capture!
