Lifesaving access to health care for millions of Americans is under attack. Extremist billionaires want to slash federal funding for Medicaid, which would also force cities, states and towns to slash budgets for vital public services. This is all hands-on deck: Call your member of Congress NOW to say NO to cuts to Medicaid and other vital public services to pay for huge tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. It’s easy, just click the link in our bio and we’ll direct you immediately.Link: https://act.afscme.org/forms/medicaid-matters-to-our-state..#union #Philly #medicaid @afscme by @afscmelocal752

Absolutely no one elected Elon Musk to anything. Yesterday, Democratic leaders called on their Republican colleagues to help stop his billionaire power grab. Make sure your Republican elected officials and neighbors hear from you about this crisis, too. -HC..#union #philly #work #family #bettertogether #dignity #respect #democracy @hillaryclinton #repost by @afscmelocal752

The @philadelphiazoo is a private non-profit that receives substantial public money and occupies substantial public land from the City of Philadelphia. How does the Zoo treat Philadelphia workers? The Zoo treats many hardworking Philadelphians as “seasonal” hires. So even though they may work for the Zoo 40 hours a week for months on end, and may return year after year, the Zoo gets away with providing: Low Pay, No Benefits, No Sick Time or PTO, No Commitment to RehirePhiladelphia supports the Zoo. Is the Zoo supporting Philadelphia workers? When it posts jobs as “seasonal” with pay rates that are lower than the City’s Living Wage Minimum Wage Standard? With no time off? With no health insurance?Let us be clear: Taxpayer money should fund the Philadelphia Zoo. It is a beloved Philadelphia non-profit committed to the public good. But is the Zoo’s current board of trustees honoring that commitment? A public good for Philadelphia would treat Philadelphia workers better. We are a group of Philadelphia Zoo full-time workers who’ve been unionized since 1969. The dedicated workers the Zoo employs “seasonally” and part-time deserve a union too. All workers do. Zoo Management can keep wasting money on union-busting or they can recognize employees’ will to unionize and commit to neutrality. It’s up to them. The more they fight against us, the stronger we become. Are you a Zoo worker ready to organize?Reach us at dc47.org/contactus by @afscmelocal752

How does the Philadelphia Zoo treat its workers? part 3. The Zoo’s recruitment website says: “Benefits of working at the zoo...Healthcare, 401k, paid time off, and more…” “What We Can Offer You: Competitive Pay — We recognize talent and we pay to keep it.” ... So why are there Zoo employees working 40 hours a week who experience low pay, no healthcare, no 401k, no sick time or pto? 🤨Definitely celebrities amongst their friends tho @philadelphiazoo 🫠 by @afscmelocal752

Where do we go from here? Our friends @phillyaflcio are holding a town hall meeting on Dec 14th for the Philly labor movement to gather and plan together. Please join if you’re able! From @phillyaflcio:“The results of the General Election have left many of our union brothers and sisters, myself included, with concerns: How will the results impact our communities, our neighbors, our unions, and our families? We are going to do what labor has always done: We are going to organize. We will build a stronger movement here in Philadelphia, one that is prepared to stand up, fight, and win for workers and working families. This fight and our plans for the days ahead cannot be made in isolation: to win together, we must plan together.” by @afscmelocal752

Hello @afscme DC 47 members and families. As we know, #Pennsylvania is a key state on the road to the presidential election. With our 19 electoral college votes, we are the biggest battleground state in the country.AFSCME has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States. We know she has what it takes to win on Election Day. Electing Kamala Harris is the most powerful thing we can do to stop Donald Trump’s Project 2025. This extreme conservative governing playbook would ban unions like AFSCME, cancel our contracts, and strip us of our job security.I know you have heard this before: “this most important election of our life time”, but this one really is. This is a fight for democracy and the future of our country. This is the ask:I’m asking our members to come out and volunteer (paid) to get out the vote. We want our members to talk to other members about the importance of this election. As union members, we have to do everything in our power to ensure that Kamala Harris wins on November 5th. Talk to your coworkers, friends, family, neighbors, and have them to make a plan to vote. It’s going to be a very close election. We need each and everyone of you.The last day to register to vote before the general election is October 21, and the last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot is October 29. Links to register to vote and request a mail-in ballot are also available on our website, dc47.org. Members can click on the link below to join paid canvassing, find out more information on upcoming rallies and other election opportunities. The wellbeing of the country depends on us. When working people come together to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, we will continue the protect the rights of workers. When We Fight… We Win!
