Last month, Sahar Driver moderated a panel called "School of Elev8Docs" at the BlackStar Projects Film Festival, which featured several veteran strategists, Chana Ginelle Ewing, Tracy Nguyen-Chung, Carlos Gutierrez, and Ani Mercedes, who dropped gems on the vanguard of impact production, digital marketing, press and distribution. Take a watch at the link in our bio! Five panelists sit on stage during a panel discussion with an audience in attendance at the 2026 Blackstar Film Festival. by @afterbruce

What a conversation. The culmination of this panel evoked for us a bit of wisdom from Grace Lee Boggs: "Every crisis, actual or impending, needs to be viewed as an opportunity to bring about profound changes in our society. Going beyond protest organizing, visionary organizing begins by creating images and stories of the future that help us imagine and create alternatives to the existing system."

Grateful to be in the brilliant company of @colorcongress @cinematropical @lookylookypictures @littlebigworld.co thank you @blackstarfest

Stay tuned for the recording! by @afterbruce

Dave was always thinking, chuckling, and making time to chat. That’s what we’ll remember most from him. His love for film and emerging talent reflected in his work, and his informal conversations. It was always a joy to catch him on the red carpet or on the phone. Each time, he offered kind words of encouragement. And in the most friendly & supportive way, we shared sighs and smiles over deadlines and wins. He always had space for us and we know we weren't the only ones. This loss has been tremendous amongst a year of many and no words are enough. What we can say without a doubt is that Dave leaves behind a richness of passion, heart, and decency. Our world is forever changed for the better because of what Dave brought to it. Rest easy, dear friend. by @afterbruce
