VDP MMC COLLECTION · ISSUE NO. 02
RHYSAND, OUR HIGH LORD

in light of a court of splintered harmony by @sarahjmaas finally being here, who better to celebrate than the high lord of the night court himself?

the most handsome high lord in history deserves his own moment, and we were SO excited to bring rhysand to life for our october issue!

this gorgeous rebind was brought to you by Vannah’s Dark Press (@vannahsdarkpress), with artwork by @nanabudraw and endpapers + edges designed by @afterhoursromance.

the VDP MMC collection has quickly become a fan favorite, and seeing all the love you’ve shown these issues means EVERYTHING to us. 🥹 we’re already so excited for the next ones, so keep your eyes open because there’s more to come! 👀

review:

5⛓️ (warning: this review will be long. i happen to yap about books i loved and obsessed about. if you don’t like it, respectfully… keep scrolling & CARRY ON)

“𝙞𝙛 𝙞 𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙞’𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙫𝙚𝙞𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚… 𝙖 𝙬𝙚𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩, 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡.”

this book owns a permanent place in my brain and i don’t see it leaving anytime soon.

i read this back in october and now listening to the audiobook just proved it wasn’t a fluke. it hits just as hard, maybe even harder, and somehow i’m noticing even more layers the second time around. this is easily one of my all-time favorites and it still feels unreal that this is a debut.

the story got under my skin early and never let go. it was unpredictable, and there’s something about the way it unfolds that keeps you locked in, like you’re bracing for what’s coming but you still aren’t ready when it hits. i kept thinking i understood where things were going and then immediately realizing i didn’t.

the writing is genuinely beautiful. there’s this lyrical quality to it that makes lines stay with you, scenes replay, and certain moments feel carved into you. i kept PAUSING just to sit with certain lines because they lingered.

mireille is everything to me. the strength it takes to endure what she goes through and still stand, still push forward, still claim herself… i was in awe of her the entire time. she’s not perfect, she breaks, she struggles, but she never loses that core of who she is. i wanted to reach through the pages and hold her hand, and at the same time watch her burn everything down when she’s ready.

‼️𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝘿𝙊, 𝘿𝙊 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙎𝙒𝙄𝙋𝙀 𝙏𝙊 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙏 𝙎𝙇𝙄𝘿𝙀.‼️

a little over a week ago, i was scrolling through Spotify when i stumbled upon the official Souls in Ruin reading soundtrack, created by the queen herself @jacwhite.author and @bookmarkedbylibby. naturally, i had to turn that discovery into something everyone could use while reading, so i spent days and my ENTIRE birthday editing these graphics. no cake, just me, my editing apps, and an unhealthy attachment to my husband, Valen. priorities, obviously.

feel free to save these and use them when you finally dive into SIR. and if you haven’t listened to the playlist yet, consider this your sign to go add it to your Spotify!

also, can we talk about how Souls in Ruin is STILL sitting at the very top of my favorite reads of all time? i fear this book has permanently altered my brain chemistry. because apparently, moving on is not something i’m capable of doing.

especially when Valen exists. that man needs to be studied. i’d actually chain myself for him, lock myself in his dungeon, and swallow the key. i’ll even bring snacks. ‼️𝙍𝙀𝙋𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝘼𝙂𝘼𝙄𝙉, 𝘿𝙊 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙎𝙒𝙄𝙋𝙀 𝙏𝙊 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙏 𝙎𝙇𝙄𝘿𝙀.‼️

jokes aside, early congrats to Jac on the upcoming release! so incredibly excited to see SIR finally get its moment and reach even more readers. you deserve every bit of the love coming your way! ❤️🖤

and a friendly reminder:
if you haven’t read SIR, 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛.
if you haven’t preordered SIR, 𝙞’𝙢 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙟𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪.
if you haven’t added SIR to your TBR, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪?

respectfully, what are you doing with your life? GO FIX THAT.
